Faking AO with SSAO
Posted in: NUKE from The FoundryThe plugin can be found here:

If anyone has had success with SSAO, please let me know; otherwise is there another/better way of faking AO? The plugin hasn’t been updated in a whileso I thought something better might have come out.
*Basically this project is for my module on university. I have several footages that need to be matchmoved into my 3D world*
-The greenscreen part is shooted with Motion-Control Mark Robert at 720i.
-The greenscreen footage is now keyed out and ready for matchmove.
-The 3D world is more ore less completed, just need the texture.
-I’m using Boujou 5 to track my footage and I have already camera solved this.
Ok so here is the question;
-Do I need to camera track still shoot in order to fuse my keyed green screen footage into 3D package(3DMAX in my case)
-How in the world do I ‘fuse’ my green screen footage INTO my 3D package?
-I only know I have to import my camera tracking information exported from Boujou, and what is next?
-Do I use my greenscreen footage AS background IMAGE in my viewport to "eye match" with my 3D world?
Thanks to all seniors spending their time looking forward to a detailed explanation for my dodgy question.
Sincerly regards from Student

My graduation project (Houdini based)
Posted in: Demo Reels! This is actually a shoot from my final project for graduation at Sheridan College 2011VFX postgraduate program.
Please check this link to see this video http://vimeo.com/22791777
The entire entire environment was created by Houdini(Mantra), only the helicopter was rendered by V-ray in MAX
Hope you like it,,,,some problem still has to be fix..#$#@flickering ice
Thanks
I know that Nuke exports FBX files but whenever I open the exported file in Max I just get an empty scene with a static camera centered on the scene origin; not what I need.
I have left all the export settings on and left them all checked on import and I keep getting the same problem.
I could try exporting to Maya but I am currently stronger with Max and I imagine the workflow from Nuke to Maya is the same?
Can anybody advise? Thanks.
I’m a second year student at the University of Hertfordshire, doing a VFX degree. I’m hoping to do compositing in one of the big companies in soho for feature films.
Here’s my latest reel
Let me know what you think!
I got 4 images (3 pictures and 1 render with a alpha chanal.)
In fusion if i wanted to show them off side by side and have the render on top all i would do is merge them together and mask for my needs.
If i do the exact same thing in nuke with a "over" merge the images does a screen or average instead.
For a moment i though addmix would do the job but i can seem to get the masking working for that one.
How can i do a merge in nuke where i can put a foreground over a background while still being able to mask, just like a regular merge in fusion.
Here is a little screenshot of my problem, where left is the nuke setup and right is the intended result in fusion:
My specs are Core I7-2600, 8GB Ram,GTS 450,Win7 on SSD, 30GB Nuke Cache and OS swap file on separate SSD, 1TB Raid 0 storage.
What would my best upgrade be here to improve performance? I do light weight stuff.. Just use the furnace plugins and some camera tracking.
I have a q6600, 4gb ram machine lying around, could I utilise this in some way to speed up rendering?
Cheers
