Getting Footage working from HPX 300

So I did my shooting yesterday and transferred my footage off of the camera and into final cut pro. I looked at the footage on the schools computer, then I put it onto my external hardrive. I looked at it on my hardrive one more time before disconnecting it from the computer.

I went home, plugged in my external hardrive and tried to play it. This is what comes up when I try too. Whats going on? I was talking to one of my friends and sent the file to him and he was able to watch it on his macbook pro. I have a imac.

here’s some pics of the file and error messages. I also have a final cut pro 6.0.6 and i’m getting version 7 of final cut pro now. I’m hoping it would make things easier for me.

one of my friends says that I’m missing a codec.

3 FX shots needed by Thursday 27th Jan ($1,500)

Summary: 3 fx shots needed by Thursday 27th for new psychological horror: Don’t Let Him In (www.DontLetHimIn.com).

Budget: $1,500
Skills: Maya, Shake, After FX or your own packages
Contact: kelly.coldwood@gmail.com

Don’t Let Him In is a British psychological horror film due to be completed Feb 2011. You can see more details here:
http://www.DontLetHimIn.com
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1400515/

We’re in the last few days of post production and still need 3 shots finished using Maya/Shake and After FX. We have a previous FX artist who has done most of the work, so it’s just a case of finishing off what he did and compositing with 2k plates.

There are two possible routes as I see it: Either a) take Shake/Maya project files (half completed), render against 2k plates and output to dpx or b) do again yourself.

We already have a sales agent in place so this movie will be distributed. See www.DontLetHimIn.com for a trailer.

This is a chance for a decent FX artist to get their work seen worldwide within a month or two and a great credit on IMDB.

Budget is $500/shot or $1,500 total. Email kelly.coldwood@gmail.com if interested asap.

Workflow for CGI output to DVD

Hi, I’d posted a thread about outputting CG renders for DVD. But I don’t have access to a Broadcast monitor or Final cut pro. Just Nuke, so I’m posting in this section incase anyone is able to help.

I’d be grateful if someone can tell me if I’m doing things right.

I’ve set my viewer lut to REC709, and all my read and write nodes to REC709 too..

Should I be using a colorspace node, converting things to SRGB Pal as at the end of the composite tree?

Any tips are much appreciated thanks.

weird compositing-page in the wiki

since there’s no commeting or discussion-feature (ala wikipedia) in the wiki, i’m posting this here…

first, who came up with this 20th century definition of compositing!? it sounds like someone copied it from a 1985 textbook or something. why not put a couple if pictures in there and extend the page a little.

and the part about effects animation and sfx doesn’t need to be in there at all, but should be in a seperate article! (by the way noone calls it "cgi effects" anymore! it’s cg effects or visual effects and they are not a part of special effects!)

p.s. it’s really weird to edit wki-pages in that teeny-tiny editing window! either do it right or let it go altogether. it’s gonna be really tough convincing people to update or contribute to a wiki like that…

just my 2cents

hello frndzz..

setup default write node in 6.2

Hi , i’m trying to set default value for the write node in 6.2, so it will output -> a .mov file, codec: apple prores 422, 25fps.

These codes (menu.py) below usually works fine in 6.1 but not anymore in 6.2 :

nuke.knobDefault(‘Write.codec’,’Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)’) # apple prores
nuke.knobDefault("Write.file_type","mov")
nuke.knobDefault("Write.codec","apch")
nuke.knobDefault("Write.fps", ’25’)

anyone have any solution ?

thanx

mocha-rotopaint and project size.

ive been recently working on a project which involves a excessive amount of roto shape imports from mocha. Since v2, the process is very streamlined and works quite well apart for the -1 frame offset.

however, ive noticed that the size of the .nk file increases exponentially when working with a lot of roto imports. a file which was 300K is now around 50MB with a dozen imports.

how do professionals deal with this problem in a production environment. I was thinking about rendering these roto shapes to a single channel TGA file to make my project smaller. is there any other way to export the rotoshapes to an external file while retaining the editability.

any help and recommendations appreciated,.

cheers
