Claudio Salas
Posted in: UncategorizedClaudio Salas flexes his animation muscle with his new reel.
My question was in regards to what a Roto artist is allowed to do in order to pull a matte. For example, if there is a section of the footage that can easily be luma keyed, is he allowed to do so? It’s just that I’ve seen a few compositors getting snotty about roto artists cutting corners like that, and wondered if a roto artist really is just living and dying by the bezier, when some more creative ways of pulling a matte may well work.
Just wanted to know so that I don’t do roto shots on my showreel using ‘shortcuts’, if they’re not encouraged.
Cam for Nuke comp
Posted in: Hardware & Tech Talkso here goes my first post !
im after a camcorder to use for recording my own footage for practicing my nuke ( greenscreen, tracking, roto etc) at home as i am currently being taught it at a London studio.
im not looking for anything like a HVX200 ( having used them for years at uni i know there great but well out my use need and price range)
the most i will ever use the footage is practicing, if push comes to shove then maybe a bit in my reel.
i’ve got a budget of £600-£700 at the most.
using the search on the forum, i’ve found alot of talk about the canon’s HF s10 and the HF S100
why do they keep coming up and what others should i be looking at.
Thanks all for the help
Theo

The Roof
Posted in: VFXTalk Short Film Forumthis was actually the first project we did on our Canon 5D mark II. The evening the camera arrived we just had to film something, so we met the next day and shot this short. We are currently working on some tutorials which will give you a little breakdown of some effects we used in this short.
This short is telling a moral story. It shows a act of killing in an almost harmless way on a sunny day, smoking a cigarette. Just a regular job for the shooter.
It is more of a reflection of a real situation from the villains perspective.
Enjoy!
