This is my first time actually posting here, as before now I haven’t had anything really beyond simple experiments.
Recently I just entered an Australian competition to make a web series. For the competition you need to make a 1 minute trailer. I used a few different compositing techniques. I am still quite knew to a lot of this and would love feedback. Unfortunately as it is for a competition I can’t upload it here as it isn’t allowed to exist anywhere else but the competitions facebook page.
If you do like it I would really appreciate if you voted for it, or left a comment.
But again above all else I know that I have so much to learn and would really appreciate feedback.

i never saw a movie in 3d …. in my country the not even one cinema that show movies in 3d….
so the best solution i had, was to order my own glasses and watch movies at home…
I know that the red and blue/cyan glasses works this way, one eye block a certain part of the image and the other blocks the other part depending on the color, to course the effect of depth, but the thing i dont understand its how you are capable of seeing the movie with the normal colors (orange from the skin white from papers ect), if the lens in the glasses are tinted with red and blue????
It’s a demo of our full automatic 2D-to-3D process based on tecnology that was developed by our team.
Important feature of this process is almost complete automation without many hours of handwork.
Based on object recognition, large database of images and objects and advanced 2D/3D tracking, our system [it’s a hardware/software solution] allows to perfoming:
– automatic roto include very complicated scenes with half transparence
– automatic objects/parts of object recognition and keying
– automatic abject removing & clean ups
But – main purpose of our system is 2D-to-3D conversion.
Without “half-handmade” corrections manufacturing facilities of our system allow for up to 60 minutes of 2D-to-3D conversion per month.
I have a channel with ID’s in it (integers, 0-255)
I would like to display that on screen with different colors assigned per ID.
(i.e. not just a scaling or simple ramp)
Simple 8-bit style LUT?
Is there a simple 8-bit LUT type mode where I can pass this 255 value into and receive RGB values out, like a palette system from years ago.
Are there built in hue expressions so I could calculate RGB from HSV from an expression? (or is that only available in Python?)
I have a nuke issue that I’m hoping others will have some suggestions or experience with. I have done a large amount of roto on a shot and left it for a while. I needed to do a last change but found upon loading it up that nearly all of my roto shapes have had all of their base positions shifted. My shapes still animate as before but where once I was rotoing a head it might now be shifted to the thigh. This is the case for nearly every roto shape. (For Flame guys) Picture someone doing an axis with a single point repo or a translate keys.
I have had this happen right after I started a roto shape in the past but never after full completion. In those cases I just manually corrected the position on the few key frames I had. It seems to be off in all versions of my saves. I’m working on a new computer with a new version of nuke so that complicates things though it shouldn’t make a difference since I have had the "lite" version of this glitch before.
Playgrounds describes itself as a festival for innovative and creative digital art. During the two-day festival in Tilburg, Playgrounds presents an impression of the latest developments in technology as well as creativity. The festival program offers an inspiring mix of inventive films, documentaries, animation, graphic design, artist talks, character design and performances.
Playgrounds was a joy and surely measures up to the big festivals in the world. Allthough the festival is held in a small town called Tilburg (South of The Netherlands) it’s speakers reflex bigness. From big directors like Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me) and Rex Crowle (Little Big Planet) to powerhouses like Mini Vegas and Zeitguised. Furthermore there were Nexus, The Blackheart Gang, Shy the Sun, David Wilson, our own Matt Lambert, Champagne Valentine, Radical Friend and BIF to complete it.
It was nice to see every speaker had their own style, their own story of success and their own piece of advice. The motto seemed to be, stay true to yourself, explore and make what YOU want!
I especially liked the Talkshow between Fons Schiedon and David O’Reilly, what was meant to be a talk about inspiration, became a showdown of truly bizarre and sick works from all over the world. Movie clips, snippets of porn and pieces of animation were all wrapped into a humorous, often awkward, dialogue between Fons and David. The Art of ‘Wrongness’!
This years’ titles came out of the sick mind of animator/director/designer Fons Schiedon. With Post Panic on the production it turned out to be on of the most creative festival titles ever made. Wether you like it or not, they are a definitely a fresh, new approach. No slick 3D, no heavy sound design, skilled typography or layers and layers of post. It looks like a surreal movie, a part of a series you’ve missed. Fons cleverly hid the titles in the dialogue of the film.
