how to achieve this ?? basic compositing question ?!!

well i’m new to compositing so i’ll tell u ma beginner’s way to composite and then ask ma question.
1- i track the camera in boujou and export the camera solve.
2- i download the model i want with it’s textures
3- i rig the model (in a basic way)
4- bring the camera solve (including the fotage) to maya
5- bring ma rig and choose the boujou camera
6- animate it
7- then use render with maya software to the boujou’s camera
8- done
😀 yes i call this compositing 😛
nw ma proplem is how to make something behind somthing i want ma model to go behind a ( wall or a tree or anything that is in the footage not 3d )
HOW PLZ ????
i used to bring the composite footage and the real footage in after effects and then mask parts in or out but it’s really hard cuz the composited footage (slower framerate,different size,different clour tone,other differnces) so when i mask in or out.. the footages don’t match so i need another method (say it in simple words) ;D

vectors couse blurry s***t

Hi guys
i have a very strange problem with vectors, ive render out my sequence from vray ( max) and ive import the whole scene into nuke to discover that i really cant get the vector blur to work, so i make all my stuff into nuke then i render into 32bit exr sequence and i plug the seq into after to apply the blur trouh reel smart motion blur, but for unknown reason, randomly some frames came out blurred like under water, they look very blurrred in the wrong way, then go on with a usual computetion, someone have any clue?

differences between different composting softwares

sorry i have a very little bit knowledge in English but i am dared to post this question because i am having doubt in what is the difference between after effects, combustion, nuke and digital fusion.

i like after effects very much i am feeling that after effects is very easy than other softwares like autodesk combustion, thefoundary nuke and eyeon fusion.

and i am also having doubt that how i use these softwares for my needs i mean where i use these softwares

Ptex implementation

The Foundry have released news that Ptex will soon be implemented within Mari after Disney decided to make their proprietary painting technology available commercially. From what I can gather Autodesk are also going to be using Ptex within Mudbox following the recent Siggraph presentation from Pixar.
Personally I can’t wait for these releases and to finally remove the annoying task of UV mapping complex geometry!

Anyone have any news on releases or related material?

Doing a bump/normal map on a camera projected geometry?

Hi, I been trying to do a bump/normal map on a camera projected geometry and it doesn’t seem to work. The material I am using is a blinn/lambert and I tried it with a mia_material_x_passes too and it doesn’t work. I added a bump3d node and with a projection node on it for my map and also not using a projection node and both ways it doesn’t work. I created the bump/normal map from crazybump.

I attached my node tree in the file attachment. If anybody could help or point to me what I am doing wrong, that would be great!

Connecting nodes in nuke

Hello! Just wondering if you maybe able to help! I have a rather large tree and connecting nodes over a distance is becoming a little tedious. So my question is, like there is in shake the "select top node, then shift click on the input to connect", is there anything of that equivalent in nuke?
