Maya Locators to Nuke

I have a tracked camera and a bunch of locators in Maya. I’ve got the camera in Nuke already, but I need my locators, too.

I tried selecting the group of locators and exporting as FBX with various combinations of settings. I’ve also tried renaming the locators to "null_###" (I seem to remember After Effects liking that naming convention) but no go. OBJ doesn’t seem to work either.

How do I do this?

Giovanni Bucci – Reel 2009

PSST!3: The First Six Films

psst3

Hot off the heels of last night’s NYC screening, the first six PSST!3 films are now available online. Excellent.

Take a break from whatever you’re doing (unless it’s open heart surgery) and strap on your headphones for a delightful romp through the collective unconsciousness of some of the most creative image makers working today.

The next six films will go online on April 2nd. Check the Screenings page for showings near you.

Expression help

Hey guys,

I am very inexperienced with AE expressions, and have been trying to figure out a way to randomize an exposure value over time between for example “frame 10 and 34 and limit the value to not go below 0 or over .3”

I know how to do just a random over time expression but not that exact. If anyone has any insight or a link that could help me I would greatly appreciate it.

cheers,

-Jason

Mystics not Wastrels

masson_acephale
Recently conceptualized record label, Acéphale, the brainchild of Toronto based designer Rory Them Finest and former SLU label manager Patrik North (the ear behind The Teenagers, Dandi Wind, & Crystal Castles among others), has just ushered in its second release in the form of CFCF’s “You Hear Colours” (yeah– “ou”–’cause they’re Canadian, oui?). The mysterious Montrealer’s limited edition, 7″ double-a side single is a meager 500 copies pressed on white vinyl, and is accompanied by Alan Parson’s Project redux “Invitation to Love” on the flip. If the response to their first release, Salem’s “Yes I Smoke Crack EP”, was any indication, then you’d better hop real quick like on that CFCF. He, along with Acéphale and their many upcoming projects, are poised to blow up like stuff that’s, uh– really explosive or something.

Oh yeah– they’ve also released a really dreamy video for “You Hear Colours” courtesy of Dallas, TX based Tommy Boy (ya mighta seen his work on the video floating around for Telepathe’s Diamond Vampires remix). In any event, here’s the vid in all its lush glory: Click here to view the embedded video.
If you’re interested in purchasing the 7″, visit their website: http://acephalerecords.com/

Patrick Boivin

Patrick Boivin’s latest stop-motion short—a comedic battle between Iron Man and Bruce Lee—burned up the interw3b as soon as it was released a few days ago. And for good reason. Boivin’s storytelling skills are matched by his spot-on stop motion work. Watch the making-of video to get a glimpse of Boivin’s meticulous process.

The film above is just the tip of the iceberg. Boivin’s portfolio is brimming with entertaining and inventive work. Oh, and don’t miss the interactive dance-off between Batman and Joker.
