New short film: The Night Shift – check it out!

Our new short film The Night Shift is finished and finally online and we’d love some feedback.

It’s a horror/adventure/comedy/romance and sort of a cross between Army of Darkness, Cemetery Man and The Mummy.

Plot:

What if you could live forever? What if you had to spend that eternity stuck in a cemetery with only a limbless corpse for a friend, and inmates that were anything but resting in peace? That’s the situation for Rue Morgan, night watchman extraordinare. Rue, along with his buddy Herb, spends his nights watching out for zombies, and his days dreaming of a date with hard-nosed day-shifter, Claire. It’s an okay eternity, but Rue’s never had to deal with the demonic “resident” of mysterious Section 13.

The film can be viewed via the Fighting Owl Films website here: http://www.fightingowlfilms.com/films.html

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Animated tattoo on moving body?

Hey,
I’m a junior at a visual fx college and i have to make some killer composites for my thesis short that is due in my senior year. In one scene, what I want to do is make an animated tattoo on somebody who is moving around a room. i want to figure out the best as well as easiest (aka. fastest) way to achieve this and look professional. We have months to work on this but we have a full course load to focus on as well, so it has to look perfect but time is a big factor.
My background is strong in After Effects as well as Photoshop and Illustrator. I know the fundamentals of Maya and a little bit of advanced concepts as well. I’m also taking a Nuke class this coming semester but I’m not sure how far past the basics we will get. I can, however, get other students’ help on this who are stronger in the programs that I’m not. Also, everything will be shot in HD.

thank you for any help you can give me ^.^

Displacement in nuke?

Hi, does anyone knows if there is a displacement node in nuke compositing? Like I can plug in a black and white Image and displace a Background plate? Commonly used to displace shockwave or explosion effects. Thanks!

Wacom Tablet & PS

Hey Everyone
A couple of years ago i bought a wacom graphire 3 tablet. I recently started using it again with autodesk sketchbook pro. This program works with the tablets pressure sensitivity quite well but when i try to use the pressure sensitivity in photoshop it just acts like the mouse and doesn’t vary the strokes and the opacity(photoshop does support pressure sensitivity doesn’t it??…because i seem to remember that elements 2 worked with my tablet). I use photoshop cs3 and if anyone has had this problem or similar i would really appreciate help.
Thanks

Good beginner tutorials for Cinema4d?

I’ve decided to learn some cinema4D to add to my motion graphics repertoire (The occasional 3D logo or text, etc….) Any clues to a good beginner’s tutorial series? Preferably movies and not just a book – I learn by watching much better.

The consensus among a lot of traditional 2d compositors is that Cinema4d is the easiest and most straightforward for 3D objects and motion graphics. I have to agree – Blender and Maya left me scratching my head, but I’m already zooming along with cinema4d and the quickstart guide Maxon has for version 10.
