CONVERGENCE: Sept 4 – 30, Corduroy Gallery, Portland.
Artists KATE CLEAVES and MATT W. MOORE have come together to create CONVERGENCE – an ultimate collaboration series. The five month endeavor to create a completely blended, completely unique series of paintings. The end result was the perfect balance with an aura of seamlessness between the two styles. […]
Living in the post-millennial world you’d imagine by now that the direction of technology, nature and nerdum will create new physiological responses and development to our species. Lucy and Bart is a collaborative team obsessed with the future of human manipulation and beauty. They take the mortal structure and make it explode or germinate as if you had a bad reaction to radioactive magic beans. If only my allergies to shellfish were this far out.
Mild mannered animation studio, Tiny Inventions, have lifted the veil on their latest opus and introduced Electric Car – a stop-motion style music video for the sugary children’s band, They Might Be Giants (TMBG). Showcasing a foxy sense of craftsmanship, Tiny Inventions is true to form, and has a knack for detail that’s put up for show in each one of their rustic-themed characters and makeshift environments.
The aesthetic here is homestyle – nothing too pretentious or embellished in flowery trimmings. Instead, Electric Car is a throwback to the good ol’ days of educational shorts; when Saturday mornings were for play; when School House Rock was a staple. Electric Car keeps it simple, but does it in a big way – a watermark to their authenticity, and a badge of honor for the studio.
