Projecting beziers and doing “3D roto” question

I watched the video from the 2009 Nuke masterclass where Frank Rueter shows how he projected beziers on geometry to do roto based on a tracked camera. It looks great, but I have some issues. In the attaced project I have seutp a simple groundplane and a bezier projection. The problem is that as the camera moves, my bezier becomes heavely distorted. What would be a good way to get around this? Am I doing anything wrong?

Also, looking at the FX Guide TV episode (http://www.fxguide.com/fxguidetv.html, episode 96), an artist from MPC shows how he used "3D roto" to create masks, with something that looks like a different approch. Using the projection method, you can only have the mask line up at the projection frame, but for his method, the mask seems to track along at the right point all the time. Showed at around 7.25 into the video. Can anyone explain this technique?

West of Paradise- Short Film

This is our second short film that my friend and I have done. We’ve done everything ourselves and we hope that it turned out okay. We are not in film school yet but will be soon. Any comments and criticisms would be great, thanks!

FrameCycler crashes all the time

Hi guys,

It’s driving me totally crazy. Please help…

Framecycler crashes all the time when I try to flipbook it in Nuke.

It used to work in Nuke 6.0v7 and now stopped working.

I installed Nuke 6.1v3 and the same issue. Framecycler crashes.

Any ideas why?

I use Mac OSX with ATI Radeon HD 5770.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

CameraTracker always crashing

I have footage that I’m trying to track in NukeX and no matter what I do with the settings and the load, Nuke always crashes before the track completes and loses all progress.
The footage is a single 5192 frame shot and this is the only thing I can think of that may be messing it up.

If so, how would I go about splitting it up and still having a single camera at the end?

Thanks

Superestudio: “Inactivo”

Inactivo is the latest short film by Lamole, the B side of Argentinian Superestudio. It’s about a woodcutter’s brave journey through a gloomy forest of giant scissors. Facing his childhood fears, he walks towards his final redemption. The finely crafted opening credits and sound design adds a nice touch to this intense drama.

“We looked for the best way to figuratively represent the inside of a traumatised mind, and we ended up deciding to shoot the main body of the film in the forest, on 16mm film, and the main title sequence in the studio. The challenge of the post-production stage was to work with a great range of aesthetic and quality resources, in the subtle framework of constructing a realistic world that denoted ‘little intervention’, leading to this bizarre world”

Superestudio’s Reel shows how the studio has a substantial commercial repertoire, so it’s great to see them dedicate some time to non-commercial projects!
