In Red Riding Hood, a terrifying werewolf haunts the inhabitants of a medieval village. Rhythm & Hues talks to fxguide about how they brought the wolf to life for this modern re-telling of the classic fairytale.

Seemingly simple track not happening right

Hey guys,

I’m doing a simple project where I’m going to have a little animated object on my table. It requires a pretty simple matchmove which I thought I had done, but it has a lot of jitter on it :/ I have all the exact camera details and things like that but it seems to not have a great solve since there is this jitter.

EDIT:

I now have different video footage and another track that has a solve but I would like some feedback on weather this solve is acceptable for putting a 3d object on the plane and if its not so great I would love if someone could help improve this for me? Here is the new footage (quite small ~25megs) and track. Help would be much appreciated 🙂

Z-Depth pass only

For the life of me i can’t figure out how to render out "only" a Z-depth render with Mental Ray….

Does anyone know if there is a way to render only specific passes without rendering the "Main scene"?

Multiple Writes

Hi, I recently finished a project and want to make a simple breakdown of it.
Therefor I want to render various stages of my work from the source to the final result.
I dont want to render these stages manually.

Would anyone explain to me how I will be able to render multiple write nodes in one .nk file at the same time?.

as Example I posted an image of my idea of multiple writes.

Creating EXR files in Nuke

Hi all,

I have multiple passes like ambient, specular, occlusion, motion vectors etc which are in sgi format. Which means they are all separate files. Is there an option to take all these files and build a multi-layered exr using Nuke.

Thanks in advance.

Short Film, “Battle Lizard,” looking to bring on a variety of Visual Effects artists

We are currently crewing up for the Visual Effects department for our short film "Battle Lizard." It’s a 2 or 3 minute short about a Mad Max-styled warrior crossed with a Spaghetti Western-style bumbling underdog who is trying to lure his "pet" dinosaur out of a cave so that he can ride it off into battle. A battle with other dinosaurs and laser guns.

The meat of the project will be to create this CG Dinosaur. We’re looking for Modelers, Riggers, Animators, Textures and Lighting. It’s our goal to make the Dinosaur as realistic looking as possible, much closer to Jurassic Park than anything you would see on the SyFy Channel.

As this is a low budget short, the ideal candidates would have a crazy yearning to create a great looking CG Dinosaur. Though we do have some cash to make this happen, it’s not anywhere near what a union show would pay.

If you are interested please email battlelizardvfx@gmail.com and I’ll send you a copy of the script and the concept art.

Thank you very much,

Eric Edmonds
Producer – "Battle Lizard"
