adjusting near, far planes in NUKE 6.2

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to work with some 3D imported geometry in NUKE and my viewer keeps cutting the geometry out..

now I remember that in older versions of NUKE there was a 3D tab in Project Settings were you would adjust the NEAR and FAR planes.. but its not there any more in NUKE 6.2 and I can’t find it anywhere else.. maybe somebody can give me a hint..?

FBX Rotation Order

I’ve got a bit of a strange situation. I am using a readgeo to bring in an FBX file, which is animated so its read at every frame, and I know that in order to have it correctly align with the rest of the elements in the scene I need it to match the rotation order of the rest of the shot, which is ZXY. However, the FBX keeps loading as XYZ and when I change the rotation order to ZXY it keeps resetting itself to XYZ.

Any input as to how I can get the FBX rotation order to switch to ZXY and retain the setting would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks for any help.

Nuke project3D

HI i am using a project3D node in Nuke and then displacing it with a displacegeo node but my roto(depth matte) is not being projected in the displacegeo node thus giving my inaccurate distortions. I tried using a UVProject node but that does not project my original image properly. Any suggestions?

Scooter the Racer – A VFX Project

A recent personal project I did. I shot, matchmoved, modelled, textured, lit and composited the shot. The project took about 2 weeks to complete.

All 3D stuff were done in Autodesk Maya, matchmoving in PFTrack and compositing in After Effects CS5.

Plz feel free to comment/critique!

The 5 Miserable VFX Jobs That Make Movies Possible

Just found the jem online at cracked.com, read with a bit of salt but its hilarious…

Quote:

So I am a visual effects (VFX) artist, putting fake things into movies with computers (often referred to as CG effects). You think you know me? You don’t know me! You know that CG makes things like Gollum and dinosaurs and pretty much everything in Avatar, but most of the CG you’ve seen in your life, you didn’t know was CG at all.

For instance, did you know that there was only one real helicopter in Black Hawk Down? Or that most movie sports stadiums are filmed completely empty, or that no buildings were harmed in the filming of the Bourne trilogy? If not, then we know we did it right. If you ever find yourself saying, "That’s a pretty cool CG effect there!", that means we fucked it up.

Instanced objects with gravity

I’m trying to make an emitter that emits rocks and pile up .I have an instanced object and I applied gravity to it with the dynamics on and made it collide with the plane but the thing is the instanced objects are constantly bouncing up and down and they move around the plane not staying still . How would I control the bouncing and friction of an instanced object?

thx much
