VFS demo reel WIP

Hi there guys,
I am currently a student at Vancouver Film School. Just recently I have put together a WIP presentation to show the school mentors and instructors for critiques on my progress. I thought I would also like to take this opportunity to show my WIP to VFXTalk professionals for additional critiques. I have about two months left at school so I want to be able to spend those time to fix and implement any critiques I receive here. Ultimately, my goal is to be able to produce an industry-ready demo reel after I graduate so I can get a job. I hope to be a compositor one day 🙂

Much appreciated.

PS: I am not exactly sure what I want to do for my background, to be honest, so maybe you guys also have an opinion about that ? Thanks.

Read node – file paths

Hi all,

We currently are working on a Vfx project where different Compositers are working on different OS systems.

The problem we are facing right now is related with the filepaths of our Read nodes when these .nk file are swapped.

as example:

While working on mac, the file path structure is like this:

X:/Projectname/Source/R&D/scan_01/Scantest01_0001.exr

While on Windows its like this:

X:\Projectname\Source\R&D\scan_01\Scantest01_0001. exr

or

/Volumes/Projectname/Source/R&D/Scan_test01/Scan01_0001.exr

Its pretty anoying that you have to change the slashes, drive letters or paths.

Is there anyone that made a little script that checks the OS, map structure etc. (Auto search?)
Would this be hard to make?

Also it would be awesome if there is a little script that checks a pre defined Path structure like:

…Nuketest/test.nk
…Nuketest/Source/Images/test.erx

Anyone?

Thanks,
Remco

How to disable a dissolve node’s input.

Does anyone know how I can disable an input on a dissolve node?

If I have 3 inputs and I want to dissolve from 0 to 2, is there a way of turning off 1 so it doesn’t effect the dissolve?

In the test script for the last 20 frames I would like turn off the green and go straight from blue to red.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
