RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Create sets, proxy props and other models based on supplied set data and/or other available survey information.
– Include proof of scale in virtual layout setup.
– Set up virtual camera from data sheets and track camera motion.
– Matchmove objects/characters to match the action in the live action plates.
– Render track / matchmove over supplied plates for approval.

They are currently creating an animation of a realistic CG creature. They require a Senior Lighting and Rendering Artist who works in Maya and Mental Ray. In fitting with the project brief you should ideally have experience of lighting and rendering photorealistic creatures.

I want to create a gizmo to add grain based on several parameters AND affecting in different ways to shadows/midtones/highlights. I’m a little lost right now.
I thought that I could use the ColorCorrect as a base and use its "Range" curves (which contains s/m/h) to affect different parts of the image. I guess I should somehow extract the information from the ColorCorrect for every region and use it as 3 mattes to the grain nodes… that’s the theory, but I’m not really sure how to implement
it.
I’m attaching an image with what I think whould be done in theory. In red, I’m marking the parts I’ve no idea how to proceed.
(The Grain nodes work by using the alpha channel, that’s why I’m copying the matte first to the alpha channel).
Any help would be very appreciated.

Several challenges I foresee in regards to the crowd duplication are timing and color variation. I would like to find a way to procedurally generate different timing offsets and color shades for the clothing of each instance of the given footage.
I will restrict the camera motion to the angles commonly seen in concert videos. Match moving a live camera should help greatly to give a more natural feel to the sequence.
Hopefully back 2 school this year isn’t too busy for me to complete this challenge. Either way, I can wait to get started! 🙂
