This coming Thursday at 6:45, Adobe After Effects New York will be hosting AE guru Lloyd Alvarez and Blue Sky Studios Lighting Lead Aaron Ross. The regular smorgasbord of awesome door prizes will also be happening—and, if I’m not mistaken, two passes to F5 will be given out as well.

Full details here. See you there!

Fixes for HD transfer of Super 16 footage

I have a 3 minute clip that was telecined from spliced negative. It’s a little jittery, and has some minor dust/damage.

Looking for an artist with film repair tools such as Diamant, MTI, or equivalent plugin such as FilmFix. Anything that can help smooth the splice bumps and dustbust without losing the original grain structure. I can’t really afford to take it to one of the big restoration houses, but if someone has a little time this week let me know.

Nokia: Leevi E71

horizontal+vertical aperture for ccd cameras

Hello,

I’m working with the Camera node in Nuke and want to provide the horizontal and vertical aperture of my camera which is a Panasonic DVX100B.

I did some research but didn’t find what these settings should be for ccd chips.

For film cameras I found it easy as there are standard aperture sizes depending on your format however for a ccd chip..

Has anyone gotten ccd aperture settings for their camera?

Running on-air from 1997 until 2002, the BBC One ‘Balloon’ idents where a brilliantly simple, and beautifully executed series encompassing all four nations of the United Kingdom with the use of one enormous hot air balloon.

England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales are each represented in the above compiles, with the balloon flying over such locations as the London Docklands, Eilean Donan Castle, Cardiff, and Snowdonia National Park.

The ‘Balloon’ idents were replaced by the ‘Rythm and Movement’ series in 2002, and eventually by the current ‘Circle’ collection in 2006.

After the jump is the ‘National Anthem’ edition of the ident, played at closing time on BBC One for a brief time in 1997.
