Video editing process

Hello,
This is my first post on www.vfxtalk.com and i have been on this site for like 2 years learning a lot of stuffs, but now i need a lot of advise on how my video editing workflow should be like.

I shot my first musical video and finished editing it in Final Cut Pro 7. I will like to know the steps or stages to take to make the MV to be up to international standard.

Am ready to learn and also ready to change my software pipeline. Pls can someone tell me if I should do the FX first or color correction or grading.

My Software pipeline:
Blender, Maya, Nuke, CS5 and Final Cut Studio Pro

System configuration:
27" IMac, 3.1ghz Quad core i5, 1TB hard drive, 1GB VRam and 8GB Ram

Urgent informations needed regarding vfx. Please Help!

Hello,
I am Saurabh. I have some doubts and questions regarding vfx field and i need advice from people here so please help me.

I have done AAASP course from arena animation and i have knowledge of Maya, Photoshop and a little After effects. I want to know what field should i select as my specialization and about vfx.

I have just finished my course and have no industry experience. I want to know which softwares should i know about if i want to be a vfx artist? How much is the salary and demand of vfx artists in India? Also what is the most demanded and highest paying field in Maya like modeling, rigging, animation etc.

Please help me, i am really confused on what should i choose now from so many options available. Please help!

Sony Ex3 Vs Motion Blur & Greenscreen

Hi All,

I have a boxing scene in a boxing ring.
One of the boxer is wearing a full chroma key suit and fight is in front of the greenscreen.
For the boxer, only helmet, gloves and shirt will be visible.

I’m gonna shot with Sony EX3…

My test shoot was in 25fps in HD format and there was huge motion blur around the gloves,helmet and shirt.

I’m planning to shoot it in 60fps in SD(720p) format to reduce the motion blur but then it wont be progressive shot and there will be lines because of the interlace.

I’m using video converter to record it directly to Mac in uncompressed format to get a proper color to key.

Is there any solution to fix this problem or another way to shoot it in progressive and HD format :confused::confused::confused:

help regarding showreel

I have few doubts

1) Whats the best software to capture videos(for breakdowns) and at what frame rate,extension and codec i should set it

2) is there a showreel specification to be followed?(format.extension.frame rate., etc in europe)

How would i make a Jade material?

I want to make a realistic jade material. I have a general idea on how to go about it, but I was wondering if anybody had any other insights.

My approach is to use a jade texture and then just create all the maps from the texture. I want it to look as realistic as possible so i can put it into my own plate, so lighting and everything else has to react like it would with real jade etc

Could this be done by using the maya materials like procedural textures?

SLOWMOTION in NUKE

I was wondering if anyone has a good methodology for doing slowmotion on Canon 5d footage. One of the biggest disadvantages with that camera, in my opinion, is you cant shoot at highspeeds. I was hoping that there would be a solution in Nuke that wouldnt look as ghetto as FCPs frame-blending. Any insights would be awesome, thanks in advance
