WE CALL IT: FOOL’S GOLD WINS BAND OF BALLERS.

BOB_eflyer_crop

At noon today all the talk comes crashing down into cold, hard, reality as our Fool’s Gold familia squares off against Mad Decent, Jim Jones, Asher Roth, and some other unnotables (just kidding Matt & Kim, we know you can dunk) in the Converse Band of Ballers 3 on 3 Tournement. We met up with Catchdubs who gave us the inside scoop about who’s who and what’s what and it looks like somebody’s got some tricks up their sleeves. Not saying who, but SOMEBODY (Diplo) is getting a pair of poopy pants tomorrow. BOB_eflyer

Psyop: HP / Garnett

garnet_hp
Psyop follows up their HP Maestro work with another cinematic, refined look from their LA shop starring Kevin Garnett. Though visually much simpler, this piece introduces some of the narrative that GSP classically brought to their run of work with Motion Theory. These scripts pushed that one step further by breaking into “multiple-locations” versus the floating-hands approach of the past.

It’s a shame KG didn’t made it far enough to have this one trail an Eastern-Conference Finals appearance. Sorry Boston.

From the Hoop: Supinfocom Delivers Again

Supinfocom students (Arnoux Anthony, Dessinges Rémi and Fesquet Guillaume) continue the recent legacy of exceptional students films with ‘From the Hoop’. This film is a surreal journey that follows the life of Rucker Park star, Earl Manigault, through his struggle with drugs and eventual rise to Harlem philanthropist.

The thing about Supinfocom films that resonates is their consistent attention to detail through all aspects of production. There is an obvious thought and care given to every layer of their films from story, to character development, environments, etc.

However, what really makes this film for me is the lighting, art direction and cinematography. For the majority of shots, there is a maturity in the movement of the camera and dramatic use of lighting that is often lacking in student films. Much of this happened in the final composites, but there is definitely a cinematic intuition in the early concept art and photographic research (see making of).
