Pan n Tile with Lens Distortion and Diagnal fisheye lenses.

Hey..

wanted to know how to do a pan n tile setup with lenses that have high barrel distortions or with diagonal fisheye lenses on full frame SLR cameras.

the lenses i have problems with
A) 14mm full frame : http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/1428.htm
B) 15mm fisheye fullframe : http://www.momentcorp.com/review/sig_15mm.html

it would be great if someone who uses this kind of lenses can give me tips or direct me towards some article that shows how to correct for lens distortions.

my final goal is to generate of lat-long map of the panarama for the cg team. at the moment im using a pfgui but am not satisfied with the manual options this software gives. so, wanna try in nuke to see if this is better..

thankx again.

IBK Mask

I am keying out this girl from a pretty even green screen so I am using the ibk gizmo node only. However their are a lot of holes in the alpha aftering keying her. I wanted to mask her face and have the rest be keyed (hair) so their would be no holes in her face. How do I do this? I cannot figure it out and the image below shows where I am stuck at. Any help would be nice. Thanks!

Nuke – toggle visibility?

Hello, I am an AE user and I just recently got my hands on nuke. I have spend the last couple of hours playing with it. All is well and good, but I can’t seem to find a way to toggle a node on/off in the viewer. For instance, if I have a blur node attached to footage, how do I toggle the blur’s visibility off? In AE I would just click the eye icon.

Any Gnomon students or alumni?

I’m interested in applying to the Gnomon Visual Effects School, and was wondering if I could perhaps ask a few questions about this particular institution.

Slowing down and normalize a movie clip

Hello everyone.
I’m having this doubt about retime.
My objective is simple, just want to slow down the initial 50 frames an the last 50 I want to leave them in normal speed.
I’ve started to use retime i think this is a good solution right?
I’m not quite understanding the input and output parameters.
I already read the help but the explanation was a little bit confusing.
Hope someone can explain me this a bit, please.
Cheers

Python to Get all nodes in a backdrop

Hey All,

Need a hand with something I am writing up in Nuke.

I have a bunch of nodes in different backdrop nodes, and I am trying to set something up that will export out each backdrop as it’s own nuke script.

I was hoping to be able to just select the backdrop nodes with:

(backdrop node).knob(‘selected’).setValue(True)

But that only selects the actual backdrop node itself and does not react like when you click on the backdrop itself in the GUI and it selects all the nodes the backdrop contains.

Anyone have any idea how to do that by chance?

Thanks in advance.

Alpha Issues with camera projection

Hey all.
I am projecting an immage that that is broken up into its individual layers from photoshop onto cards. eg: skies on card1,Mountains on card2,hills card3 and town buildings card4.
All the immages have alphas and i am projecting from a single cam.

The immages all seem to "bleed" into each other like the alpha is general throughout the individual immages and i end up with a mess.
Any ideas?

Thanx
K.

Gnomon School Question

Hi guys,

I’m 28 years old with a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. I’ve been in the finance industry for the past years, but I am really thinking of pursuing a career in Visual Effects.

Just earlier, I was looking for a reputable school to enroll into and came across Gnomon. However, upon reviewing their application I must say i’m a bit discouraged. From what i’ve seen from their web site, it seems to be one of the best if not the best school for learning about Visual Effects. However, their application asks for portfolio- and being someone with no art background or experience with digital imaging, i can’t really come up with a portfolio to even send in with the application. 🙁

Does this school only accept art students or people that have already had some experience? Is there a possibility of me getting into this school at all?

"Decisions are based on a student’s application form, portfolio review and interview with the admissions department. Students are informed of decisions within two weeks after a their application is received. Portfolios should include 10 – 15 pieces in either digital or hardcopy format. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. Students may begin this program every quarter."

Anyway, if anyone is involved with Gnomschool of visual effects (past or present) can shed some light on the subject or perhaps help me understand their acceptance requirement, i would greatly appreciate it.

-kind regards,
raven

Siggraph Job Fair

Has anyone ever got a job out of going to the job fair at Siggraph?

I’m contemplating going but wonder if it’s even worth it with this economy. I currently have a job but I’m stuck in a position where I can’t grow as an artist. I also don’t live in California which is working against me. Does companies at Siggraph even look at non-locals?

I’d love to hear any success stories.
