Alexander McQueen x PUMA: The Book of Five Rings

Inspired by the 17th-century ‘The Book of Five Rings‘ whereby the undefeated samurai Miyamoto Musashi outlines his philosophy for success in battle and in life, Sean Capone’s quintet of films transforms this concept into an intricately choreographed ballet of rhythmic motion. Fashion, like martial arts, appears in a continuous flow that is both elegant and […]

Character Modeller/Animator wanted for dark fairy tale short film

Hiya.

Fool Angel Entertainment is looking to collaborate with a talented CGI artist to work on a high quality short drama entitled "Wolf At The Door".

Its a somewhat dark fairy tale story about a young girl chased by an unseen monster through a forest and subsequently trapped in a log cabin with two wolves.. one monstrous and hiding in the shadows and the other a maternal but still somewhat threatening character who converses with the girl.
It’s a powerful script with a nice twist at the end that resonates long after watching.

This is a short project that has been waiting to be made for too long and we are keen to shoot it this year despite not having the money that one would ideally need to do it. Sometimes you just have to seize the day and try and get good stories made..

In short it’s a low/no budget project that will be shot on HD with a professional crew donating their time in order to make it a professional high quality product, but (unless we are successful in raising some money over the next couple of months) there is no money for visual effects – or much of anything else really.

It is however a great showreel or graduation project for the right person looking for some strong material to showcase their talents or promote their independent company.

If you would like to get in touch or find out more about us and see previous work, please visit www.foolangel.com

We look forward to hearing from you and perhaps even building an ongoing relationship in future.

Kind regards,

Shane Ward & Natalie Samson

DemoReel problems…

Okay guys, I’m putting together a reel and I have to say, God I don’t have a lot of stuff 🙁

I’ve worked on two short films which mostly involded keying and colourcorrections.

There was no real CG comping (though I’ve been doing a bit more of that now) or adding amazing effects to the footage.

Plus, I still haven’t got access to the second one yet as I don’t think it’ll be released for a month or two yet.

I’ve also done some mattepaintings/3dprojections/set extension which I could include, but it’s not great to be honest.

So… What I’m asking is what do people (human resource type folks) think of stock footage, like that from HCW in a reel? And basically, what are my options?

(God, what a negative post…)

PepperMellon for The Guardian and The Observer “World Cup”

As an appetizer to the hotly anticipated World Cup, Argentinean studio, PepperMellon, has jockeyed their way to front-lines and served up a playful treat to whet the appetites of commercial-goers and sport fans alike. With help from Wieden + Kennedy (London) and Stink, the studio has looked to character based animation in a cheerful and carefree advert made to raise awareness for The Guardian and Observer’s involvement in the upcoming sporting event.

Through a kaleidoscope of shots, the spot shows how —no matter where you are— the world can freely enjoy the footballing action of the event. With every changing scene, characters are depicted to be gleefully reacting to a World Cup moment that ripples across all cross-media platforms. The spot has a cute look. Like so many of the PepperMellon’s work, it finds a color palette that’s bright and welcoming, but not too pushy. In testimony to the music, the distinctively British tune is a perky, footballing hym that sings the praises of the event and mirrors the fun-for-sun’s-sake mood of the piece, which will leave you humming the foot-tapping ditty non-stop.

For a behind-the-curtain look at how the spot came together, see here.

Consolidate footage

Hello guys, I couldn’t find any info on the matter. Is it possible to move all the files and footage used in a comp to a chosen folder?

An automated way of doing this would allow me to remove all the unnecessary files and store the ones that I need in only one place. After Effects has a similar funtion that’s called consolidate or similar.

Thank you!

The British soap opera Coronation Street is one of the longest running television programmes in the world, and if its network promotions are to be believed its also “The Nation’s Street”, a sentiment I actually quite like.

Earlier this week Corrie began broadcasting in High Definition, and to mark the occasion they updated the opening sequence, bringing with it a depth, warmth and intimacy missing from the earlier incarnation.

Despite the fact I don’t watch any soaps I’m actually a huge fan of the format. The daily, long running nature of the programmes open up huge creative possibilities that can reflect the life of a nation, and really engage a wide audience.

And while these long running stalwarts of the genre have a place, I hope we see some new takes on the soap opera format appear on the scene as well.
