Exr’s and colorspace

I’ve noted how applying a color space node to a shuffle attached to an EXR seems to give me a much darker output then when connected right to the EXR.

I’ve resorted to utilizing LUT’s to define my own color space correction by recreating the gamma correction curve with minor tweaks where needed.

My question is, are the elements within an EXR already set to linear space when you shuffle them out, and why then is the original EXR in a different color space? Perhaps it is my process of outputting EXR’s… if anyone could shed some light on this, It’d be great. The darkness kinda sucks.

Simple? Zoom in Framecycler 2007, on a Macbook Pro

Hi – I have used Framecycler before but not on a laptop (Intel Macbook Pro).

All I want to do is simply zoom "in" and "out" as if I was zooming in Nuke. (eg: combo of a wacom button and a key)

The manual says:
<Numpad Plus> Zoom in
<Numpad Minus> Zoom Out
….obviously the laptop does not have a numpad as such, like on an extended desktops keyboard.

I swear I have tried all combinations of "+", "-"(shift, ctrl alt, cmd, fn etc etc) with and without numlock… and also altering the configuration of wacom with the buttons == click, double click, middle click etc.

Is anyone able to throw me a bone?

While on zoom I know I can push ‘Z’ and get a zoom box, which is at the moment set to 500%, is there any way I can change this?

HI

Hi
i created a gizmo with REFORMAT node for reformatting 2k images to 720 size(720*547). i used root.format.pixel_aspect to check whether the image is square or anamorphic. It works good for square images but for anamorphic i need to divide the height by 2. IF statement is not working in the expression tab of the reformat node.

here’s the prob:
i used an expression in reformat node’s
box_height knob – 1556/(2048/720) but the result in reformat_box_height node has to be divided by 2 if the image is 2k anamorphic.
for ths i need to use IF statement, but if i use if statement it says syntax error 🙁

How to make Nuke see transparency in a PNG image sequence?

I’m relatively new to using Nuke, just trying to get to grips with the workflow and node based working, but have hit upon a problem that is stopping me from experimenting and getting used to it.

Essentially, I created a particle system in 3DS Max that simulated rubble flying from the ground as if a meteor had just hit it, intending to overlay this onto a video of my street for a simple meteor crashing effect. I rendered it out and saved it as a PNG image sequence as it can store transparency. When I load it into Adobe After Effects, everything is fine – the transparency data works and it overlays perfectly. But when I load it into Nuke, it has the background image I used for reference behind every frame and no transparency at all, so I can’t overlay it onto anything.

What they look like in windows explorer (and overlay into After Effects):

What they look like when loaded into Nuke:

So is there any way I can make Nuke read them as they appear in windows explorer, or am I going to have to go back and re-render the entire sequence in some other format? And if so, any suggestions on what formats Nuke can read transparency from?

Cheers guys!

Paint Lag

Hey, I’ve done some searching, and not found any information on this issue, so I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.

I am painting in nuke (64bit Linux machine, but I am running 32bit nuke). As I paint, the software begins to lag. There seems to be a direct corrilation with the amount of lag I recieve to the amount of paint strokes in a node. -This occurs with both the paint tool and the clone tool-

I am working around this issue by creating several paint nodes (lag seems to go away when the node is closed). But is is becoming an issue and is a rather pesky bug.

I suspect that this may be caused by running 32bit on a 64bit machine, but I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and found a solution?

Thank you in advance!
Sabrina

How to slowdown the random??

:twisted:anyone met the problem?
I use random(t) to control the gain parameter of Grade,so it changes every frame.

How to step it?
I just want to get a random parameter every 3/4frame,not every frame:(:twisted:

I have used Genarts->Sapphire Time-> S-Flicker to got it!! It works well🙂

tab works with custom toolbar but not custom menu

Title says it all really. What am I doing wrong in my menu.py that using the tab key works for gizmos that are seen in a custom toolbar but it doesn’t work for the same gizmos in a custom menu???

Thx

Michael

Edit: hmm, maybe it’s a bug?

Write iff Files from Nuke?

Is this possible? I would like to use a sequence that I am compositing in Nuke as a BG for an animation in Maya 2009. Thanks.

python, inputs into a group

I am drawing a blank on this.

how do I set the input and output connections for a group in python?

make a group, and then link a node inside the group to the input connections….

Bezier Magic saves deadline from “realSlow” fluid simulation disaster!

Hi all, thought I’d relate a little endeavor me and a fellow compositor faced this week!

Here is the 411. We were required to run platinum fluid down the talents neck morphing into a platinum necklace and dripping off! Now im sure you all know how slow Real Flow (real slow) can be at the best of times and come 3.40am after little to no sleep the night before the deadline when the 3d team where still siming other shots also for D day, out of pure frustration we decided to take matters into our own hands.

Basically we used bezier shapes in Nuke to follow down the tracked and painted neck and necklace of the talent. Using a plugin in AE we applied a chrome effect (shadeShape) and multiple matte passes and beziers and hey presto there is a pretty convincing fluid sim done all in 2d! Now i know by any standard this technique seems crude but it sure saved all our butts (2d and 3d department aswell as cracking a ridiculous deadline and measly budget) Below are some stills of the Process,

ONCE AGAIN ALL PRASIE BE TO THE DARK ART OF COMPOSITING!:niceone:
