differences between different composting softwares

sorry i have a very little bit knowledge in English but i am dared to post this question because i am having doubt in what is the difference between after effects, combustion, nuke and digital fusion.

i like after effects very much i am feeling that after effects is very easy than other softwares like autodesk combustion, thefoundary nuke and eyeon fusion.

and i am also having doubt that how i use these softwares for my needs i mean where i use these softwares

Connecting nodes in nuke

Hello! Just wondering if you maybe able to help! I have a rather large tree and connecting nodes over a distance is becoming a little tedious. So my question is, like there is in shake the "select top node, then shift click on the input to connect", is there anything of that equivalent in nuke?

Many thanks

addKnobChanged problem – cannot grab the changed knob from gizmo

hi,
i create a gizmo and add 2 knobs -> named ‘color’ and ‘translate’. The class name of this gizmo is ‘hramp_v1’. So far so good, everything is working properly. So now i want to monitor the changes of its parameter. I use addKnobChanged(function) – this is without filtering the class. Now as i changed any parameter of any Node, i can sucessfully grab any knob which has been modified. So for example if i change parameter of my gizmo, i will get knob : ‘color’ and ‘translate’. The result seems to be no problem… perfecto

Now the next case, i want to use filtering to monitor just my gizmo node. So i modified the script by adding Class filter : addKnobChanged(function, nodeClass=’hramp_v1′). It’s confusing now… if i modify my gizmo parameter, i can’t get/grab the proper knob like before. What i got is ‘showPanel’ not ‘color’ or ‘translate’. Any knob of my gizmo that i changed, i always got this ‘showPanel’ which came from nowhere. If i remove the filtering, it’s back to normal again. i’m 1000% sure that i use the right Class name (hramp_v1).

can anyone help me ?

thanx

export dvcprohd 1080p25 what settings? wierd problem

What settings do you have when exporting dvcproHD out from nuke. I export for use in a final cut project with dvcprohd timeline.

If I in final cut, mix a dvcpro rendered clip from nuke, with original clips from camera (hvx200 dvcpro hd 1440×1080) it looks good in timeline. But if I output from fcp to a dvcpro hd file. Then that clip gets messed up aspect and needs to be rerendered if opened up in fcp??

In nuke I do this. Import orginal dvcprohd 1440×1080, change colorspace to srgb and choose an write node and then export it as dvc prohd 1080p25. I dont check the premult, raw or use format aspect.

As long I only use clips that has been rendered out of nuke with this settings everything is good when render out of fcp. But as soon I mix in other clips I get the problem. Also I get the same problem if I only work with clips from nuke and ad an colorcorect filter in fcp.

simple transform and merge help

Hi,

I tried to merge two ramps each with resolution of 1024×256 to form a final image with 1024×512, but I couldn’t figure out how to manipulate the bbox or the transform node to achieve this.

As you can see, the top ramp is totally black as I transform it up 256 pixel in Y.

Blending 2 cards in 3D space?

Friends,

Really not sure if this is a stupid question but how do we merge/blend cards in 3D Space (Scene setup)?:o

For eg: I have 2 cards in a scene setup/ (White smoke and Dark smoke footage) and want to blend it together (overlay, in,out, multiply etc) and get it out of the same scanline renderer.

The way I can think is to have 2 different Scene setups with the individual cards and Merge the output of the Scanline renderer with a merge node. But that would mean so many Scene nodes for each blending? Am I making sense?

In After Effects, the Blending modes affect both 3D/2D layers, was thinking in that angle.

:confused:

Depth map edge issues

I’ve been given a z-depth map for a 3D model along with its render.
The image is applied to a card and I’m using the DisplaceGeo node with a 3D camera and piped thru a scanline render. all of that works fine but the depth map has some anomalies around the edges that show as long spikes. There’s an alpha that should be clipping this but doesn’t. Eroding the alpha still doesn’t cause the spikes to be clipped. Any suggestions?

Other depth map questions:
1. The depthmap values range from 5 to 45 in this particular case, relating to real world measurements. The default DisplaceGeo is scale of .1 If I want to make sure depthmap creates true z in a world to match xy units are there specific settings to make sure that happens or will i have to manually scale until I think it’s right.

2. Should histogram work with these types of values? Doesn’t really seem to even when changing the input range.

Thanks.

coloroverlay value set

Hi,

How is it possible to change colorOverlay of rotoshape using python. I tried the following. Although it works fine with tile color, gl_color and also as a matter of fact with the script too. However, it does not show the change in GUI. How do i get the change reflected in the GUI.

Nuke version : 6.6

Code:

col = nuke.getColor()
if not col == None:
    for n in nuke.selectedNodes():
        n.knob('tile_color').setValue( col)
        n.knob('gl_color').setValue( col)
        n.knob('colorOverlay').setValue( col)

Node issue

Hey folks,

I’m trying to build a gizmo based around the MarkerRemoval node – however i’ve found that it has a problem. If it’s given an alpha where there’s multiple points on the same horizontal line it appears to take it’s source for replacing anywhere on that line, rather than just adjacent to the individual alpha areas.

Kinda hard to explain, but I’ve included an example below.

Just wondering if anyone’s come across this before, or if anyone’s ever made their own marker removal style tool, with offset plates?

TIA

export nuke point cloud to ae

I ran a search but couldn’t find a thread on this, but does anyone know how to get a nuke point cloud track into ae?

I’m used to doing a track in synth eyes and then exporting to after effects via .ma and wanted to know if someone has written a gizmo for doing this from the nuke camera tracker and point cloud.

any help would be greatly appreciated – i need an emoticon here 😀 there we go
