Fortiche Prod: League Of Legends

Directed by Passion Paris duo Arnaud & Jerome, this promo for the online game League of Legends showcases their newest character, Jinx. The video was created by Fortiche Prod and produced by Passion Paris.

The directors and Riot Games worked closely together, exploring new animation and rendering and compositing techniques. By choosing to veer away from the more conventional CG gaming aesthetic they, together, brought an enormous amount of energy and enthusiasm to this project. The result of this collaboration is a visually astounding film, seamlessly blending CG and 2D animation, creating a never before seen graphic look.

British music and entertainment channel 4Music refreshed its on-air branding this month and introduced four new idents based around dance.

I’m reminded of the old BBC One ‘Rhythm and Movement’ idents that still remain a gold standard for television branding. And having recently seen Pina I still think there is plenty of room to further explore dance in idents.

For more info on the 4Music rebrand read this.

Friday Mix: Radium Audio

Wake up. It’s Friday. The weekend is so near you can smell it. Granted, it smells like beer and cigarettes, but you still need it. More importantly, you need music to go with your beer and cigarettes. And that’s where we come in.

We are pleased to release another exclusive mix of music for your pre-weekend pleasure, this time curated and shaped by the wizards at London-based Radium Audio. In their words:

Our focus is crafting the music and sounds around a “snap shot.” Imagine opening your window in East London—this is what you would hear… from people’s cars, flats and headphones. It’s not definitive… just a slice… enjoy… the Dalston Ponys Nov 2010.

Strap on your phones and imagine a gin and tonic just within reach.

Channel Y

After a year and a half of blood, sweat, tears, and frankly a ‘lil procrastination, YYY / Channel Y is re-launched. With more people experiencing the web on TV and TV on the web, this new iteration of Yes Yes Y’all is right where it needs to be. As one of the first passive experiences online, the site resembles what MTV once represented – a fusion of entertainment and enlightenment.

At a party. Lounging on the couch. Seeking the new. Finding the inspirational. This is how YYY is to be embraced. Music has long been the basis of the site, and as visual artists it’s a natural evolution to have innovative eye-candy creep into the mix. After all, in many, many cases, the beauties of each are not mutually exclusive.

Bumpers have been created by the YYY team and are meant to function as segues into the curated content so keep an eye out for those as you consume the content from the site. If you are interested in working with YYY to create some of these bumpers or unique content that will be featured on the channel, be sure to reach out to them on the site, they’d love to hear from you.

Free Gucci– Best of the Cold War Mixtapes presented by Diplo, is a mix soooooo good, we have zero shame in reporting news a trimester old. The epic head banger has got us playing it over the airport speakers consecutively since it’s release. With audible footprints from Salem, Memory Tapes, Zomby, Flying Lotus and more, these jams keep us jumpin’. What’s even better? The mixtape is free like air! Download it here and thank us later.
