Ready Steady Play: Trailer

Hover Studio, the makers of the very entertaining mobile game “Ready Steady Bang,” are releasing a follow up title in June, “Ready Steady Play.”

Like its predecessor, RSP features smooth, whimsical character animation from sister company Animade that’ll be worth the price of the game alone (assuming the game isn’t ridiculously expensive).

Fortiche Prod: League Of Legends

Directed by Passion Paris duo Arnaud & Jerome, this promo for the online game League of Legends showcases their newest character, Jinx. The video was created by Fortiche Prod and produced by Passion Paris.

The directors and Riot Games worked closely together, exploring new animation and rendering and compositing techniques. By choosing to veer away from the more conventional CG gaming aesthetic they, together, brought an enormous amount of energy and enthusiasm to this project. The result of this collaboration is a visually astounding film, seamlessly blending CG and 2D animation, creating a never before seen graphic look.

Blur: League of Legends Cinematic “A Twist of Fate”

It’s getting very hard to stand out in the world of game cinematics. But somehow Blur always manages to pull it off.

Case in point, “A Twist of Fate,” Blur’s trailer for League of Legends, the multi-player battle game from Riot Games. Each vignette in the trailer pumps up the action from the previous vignette, culminating in an over-the-top battle royale that even the most jaded consumer of game trailers can appreciate.

Passion Pictures’ Pete Candeland welcomes The Beatles to Rock Band

rockband
It was no surprise when I learned the new spot for The Beatles: Rockband was directed by Pete Candeland of Passion Pictures, director of The Gorillaz music videos and done the past two Rock Band openers (1 & 2).

The illustrations and designs are gorgeous, the transitions are seamless and the piece builds momentum to the very end. Not only does the energy of the piece build, but so do the complexity of the animation techniques themselves. We start off in an illustrated, cut out world and wind up in a fully immersing Psyop-esque jam fest. By the end of the video I had to keep rewinding to catch all the references.

Enjoy.
