PFtrack : Merge Camera solve and geometry track

Hello everyone,

I am new to PFtrack, but I have a question about merging a camera movement and a object movement.

Example :
I would like to have some smoke on a guy’s face, the smoke is born on the face (geometry track) but has the drag of the environment (camera track).

The 2 trackings are essentials, is there an easy way to merge the camera solve and the geometry track together in PFtrack?

any ideas are more than welcome !

thanks a lot!

Mocha Pro, exporting inserted images.

Hi I had insert some pics with the insert option of Moca Pro, so they stay attached to de tracked surface, and it works really nice. Now the problem is I want to export them, just the images without the background, so I can color correct them. There’s ay way to do that?
The best idea I have had is to change the backround input to a black image, so I can aply a luma key to it in the composer. But I think there must be a better way to do it, if someone knows, please tell me. Thank you.

exporting with wrong frame range

Hi everyone!
When I exporting cam from PFTrack to Maya as .ma and FBX appears problem: wrong frame range. Is anybody faced with this problem? Using PFTrack 5.0r1 build 80923 and Maya 2011

with what app ?

hi,
(sorry for my english)

i would want to know if someone know

with what matchmove software this data is export ?

.txt looks like this :

3DEqualizer4 R1b12 (the new release of the 3DE)

3DEqualizer4 R1b12

Dear Friends of 3DE!

Today we released a new beta version of 3DE4 (r1b12). It mainly contains the missing camera constraints "locked positional channels", as well as a large number of new python commands.

In addition, there are a few really cool new python scripts:

– "Track Homologous Stereo Points" allows you to track the second camera of a stereo project based on features tracked in the first one, more or less automatically. This can save an enormous amount of time.

– "Export Nuke CornerPin2D Node Stereo Stabilizing" exports a Nuke cornerpin node, for aligning both cameras of a stereo project to each other. Several parameters define precisely how camera A should be matched to camera B.

– "Triangulate Mocap Points From Sync’ed Cameras" allows to calculated individually animated (motion capturing) points from sync’ed cameras. This script even can be applied to (sync’ed) cameras of a stereo project.

Please see changelog below for more details!

Boujou to Maya Import problem *URGENT*

I’m having a tracking problem on one of my tracks from Boujou to Maya. The track is perfect in boujou, 24 fps, assessed lens distortion, test objects staying put etc. When I bring it into Maya the objects begin to float and don’t stay tracked.

Anyone know the problem? I made sure the fps were the same from Boujou to Maya, and also rendered the lens distorted tiff sequence from boujou to Maya.

I’m completely lost at this point and not sure where to go considering the lack of boujou training materials. I’ve asked my friends, posted on other forums, and even contacted a couple old professors with no response. This project is due Thurs.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Added are my project files (tiff sequences and boujou 5 file) if that helps.

Entering right film back and focal length question

Hey guys!

I’m back with more PFTrack woes lol. So I have recently acquired a Canon 60D. I’ve been shooting most of my projects with this now, and have run into a lot of problems with tracking for reasons like rolling shutter and now some confusion over the right focal length. So I was wondering if someone could help clear out these questions for me.

So basically the 60D is not a full frame camera so all my lenses will have a crop factor of 1.6 on them. So a 50mm lens is equal to using an 80mm lens. My 60D has a film back of 22.3 × 14.9 mm according to the specs. When I try and enter this into PFTrack, it never lets me enter this ratio exactly. It always adjusts one value to be higher than it actually is by a few mm. I don’t know how much this affects my solve, but I assume not so much.

Another question is, if I shoot something with a 50mm lens on the camera, do I enter 50mm as the focal length or 80mm? Does PFTrack understand that the lens focal length is 55mm and my film back is not equal to a 35mm camera and so calculate crop factor and compensate or do I actually have to say 80mm in the approx focal length?

Another question is, how can I actually tell if rolling shutter is affecting my solve? I don’t see too much of it in my shot at present as opposed to some other videos that I’ve shot. What is the best way to post process footage with rolling shutter for the purpose of matchmoving?

Thanks guys!

Lens-Distortion / distort CGI

Hello, I working in 3D Equalizer, and I’ve tracked my first tracking video.

First of all, I’ve found Lens-Distortion in 3DE and Rendered UNdistorted footage back, then I worked with this footage and got good solving camera data from 3DE->.FBX-> Cinema 4D and there I’ve been recreated proxymesh and modeled few models to put into the scene.
I rendered it fine, I still working with colors, I have so many Object-Buffers. Everything looks okay, but I want to give me renders distorted look, and combine it with original footage.

Original footage from camera:

RGBA render from C4D:

Distorted RGBA render:

RGBA render + original footage (distorted originally by camera lens)
I don’t know how to match original footage and distorted CGI! I don’t want scale it up, is there any way to do it?

One of the color-correction mockup.

Do you have any suggestions?

Camera Tracking and Relative Model Size

Hi – I’ve filmed a real world scene and tracked it in PFtrack without any problems. I’ve changed the units in Max to mm’s and brought the camera/floor grid and tracking points into Max and it lines up fine with my background plate. However when I import the 2meter animated robot that I want to add into the scene it is absolutely enormous and the models size bears no relation to the sizes in my real world environment.

Have I left out a step – should I add in a basic model in the tracking program and specify the dimensions of this model so as max can synchronise its units and settings with my imported ones ?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Match-moving greenscreen with 3D environment!

Hello guys I’m new to this forum! Been searching around after detailed tutorials on how to match move a greenscreen footage into a 3d replacement environment.

*Basically this project is for my module on university. I have several footages that need to be matchmoved into my 3D world*

-The greenscreen part is shooted with Motion-Control Mark Robert at 720i.
-The greenscreen footage is now keyed out and ready for matchmove.
-The 3D world is more ore less completed, just need the texture.
-I’m using Boujou 5 to track my footage and I have already camera solved this.

Ok so here is the question;

-Do I need to camera track still shoot in order to fuse my keyed green screen footage into 3D package(3DMAX in my case)
-How in the world do I ‘fuse’ my green screen footage INTO my 3D package?
-I only know I have to import my camera tracking information exported from Boujou, and what is next?
-Do I use my greenscreen footage AS background IMAGE in my viewport to "eye match" with my 3D world?

Thanks to all seniors spending their time looking forward to a detailed explanation for my dodgy question.

Sincerly regards from Student
