Camera tracker won’t track undistorted plate

Hello there, I was hoping to get some pointers in the right direction. I’ve done a few searches of the forum and this problem hasn’t come up so its probably something incredibly obvious and in my face. I have just undistorted a scene using an STmap node, which has my motion plate rendered back in as a single plate.exr. And the scene has become nicely undistorted, but the camera tracker just wont track it anymore. I works fine on the original plate but through the st map node and lens distortion node it just skips to the end frame and acts as if nothing has happened. As I said before its probably something incredibly simple that I am missing.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance 🙂

This also doesn’t track when of course the lens distortion tool isn’t connected and its solely the original plate with the STmap and motion shuffled lens analysis plate. Which I really cant understand why it isn’t tracking.

NEW Tutorial – Space Ship

This one started off as an experiment to see what I could make if I used some math functions to affect the points of a line to draw out their graph. As I worked with it I found that some of the geometry that was coming out was incredibly complex and looked amazing. They also tended to look unmistakably like some sci-fi ships that I have seen in movies and tv shows. I figure that using this method someone could create a whole fleet of ships, each one unique, in just a few minutes. Also, all of the meshes tend to come out as perfect quads. This should be quite a boon for any texture artists or UV unwrappers who hate messy geometry. I also managed to get a few rather organic looking pieces of geometry. Some started to look like the head of a squid. I am attaching a few things I came up with in a few minutes to wet your appetite.

Thanks for taking a look and be sure to let me know what you all think.

VFX degree?

Hey there, I’m new here.
I’m studying graphic design and multimedia, interested in animation and visual effects.
I haven’t found a reliable source about a good school for VFX abroad (since in Colombia there’s isn’t, sadly).

Can anyone recommend me a good one? to be true I’d love to study in Europe, or at least not US or Canada, but all the schools I look up are in those countries, anyway…

Ah! and maybe one which price wouldn’t have to make me sell my organs to afford, lol.

Thank you! 🙂

Demo Reel Introduction

Hey guys,

Just a quick easy critique. I’m making a Demo Reel over the next few months, and it is mostly going to be rotoscoping (as that is how I want to start my career and move up from there). I know that Demo Reels should typically be a “show your work… quickly” thing, so I’m wondering if this intro is too long?

It’s nothing too fancy. Simple and to the point. I’m somewhat of a minimalist so… any comments are appreciated. Reel is going to contain 4 Roto pieces I am working on, but just took a break and made this last night real quick.

Let me know what you think!
