Motion control rig or 3D zoom?

Hi all,
I am always confused when I see a typical green screen composite with a dolly push in/pull out with a set extension.

Does anyone know if this is "usually" done on cards in 3D space or a motion control rig?

I don’t see any tracking markers on the green screen to suggest a 3D track

The on-air look of ABC2 has ranged from the interesting to the ordinary. While easily the most intriguing channel on free to air television, ABC2 has always struggled with its identity.

Thankfully this new lime-and-pink design is the most mature branding to grace the network, even if the execution of the new idents is a little sporadic (the fish look great, the knitting.. not so much).

I can disactivate it temporarly by pressing alt key while i rotate, but i m looking for a permanent solution

Warping shadow on a matte painting

Hi everybody,

I’m a french student in a VFX school and I’m in a dead end here.
I’m working on a short movie which is set in the Middle Ages.
I would like to warp shadows from a shot to make it match to a matte painting I made (WIP).

Here is a part of the shot to illustrate what I’m trying to do:

Original shot:

Matte painting:

Shot composited (here quickly in photoshop for the example):

The problem is that I want to keep the beginning of the shadow on the floor (less rotoscoping) and then warp it on the walls. I have a 3D layout which can be used for porjection.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

VFX needed for national spot. Los Angeles.

We are producing a 30 second commercial for "Big Red" that will get national exposure and need some VFX. Although the spot is for a large company and will have great exposure, the budget is extremely tight.

We have 6 effects shots:

1. Window replacement with cityscape
2. Soda splash on wall that magically transforms into Big Red logo
3. Glowing tub of Big Red soda, light shoots up into the air
4. Red searchlights over cityscape
5. Logo high up on wall, casting light down on party goers (not necessarily directly behind them)
6. Red streak from the back of hero’s bike

Link to storyboards: http://www.512-media.com/BigRedStoryboards.pdf

Please look over the storyboards/shot list and be sure you can do the work with-in the budget before responding. Also, we’d prefer you were in the Los Angeles area.
