Using more the RGB for mask channels?

When you export mask/matte passes from maya to Nuke its good to use the RGB channels but its only 3 channels in one rendered pass. It would be nice to add more masks in one rendered exr file. You can add alot more with the exr right? What is the easiest way?

VFX Challenges (VIP Only)??

@jah, in a recent post you stated "the challenges will only be open to VIP’s moving ahead".

While I’m not interested in the surrounding debate that this came from I would be interested in your reasoning for this move?

Looking thru the challenge series in most all of the contests there is an average of 5 – 6 people submitting and only an average of 1 VIP. I believe one of the ideas of the challenge series was to help promote and challenge artists that are working on improving their skills.

I have been a member of this site for sometime and have improved greatly because of it and feel I have learned a lot due to these challenges. I would feel that by closing them off you would be doing a great injustice to the community that has been built here.

F5: New Date, Even Happier!

Since we first announced F5, a little roar has grown louder. Many of you want to attend, but just can’t because of timing. It’s happening again on a Thursday and Friday. And the boss is none too happy about giving you all that time off.

Well, your wishes have been answered. Happy F5 is being moved back a day to April 15-16, 2011—Friday and Saturday. And it’ll go down at the world famous Roseland Ballroom in the heart of NYC. We’re also extending the deadline of the current early bird ticket deal to January 17th for all you newcomers.

You embody the essence of F5. It’s important that you all have an opportunity to be a part of the festivities. Our sincere apologies if this is a major inconvenience to all who have already bought tickets. We will fully refund anyone who cannot attend the new dates.

There’s been chatter about who may speak… and we’re still firming up so so many details. But, in the spirit of the new year, we’ll give you highly-complex, over-engineered clues that too shall pass.

Ready? Set? Okay—Go!

Wacom Tablet Repair?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that can repair damaged wacom tablets?

I have an old Intuos 2, 18X12. The tablet is not demolished, but the casing is cracked up pretty bad and some circuits may be in need of repair.

Long story short. When moving, the bag that held the tablet was picked up by the wind and blown out of the truck. My auto insurance wont cover it for some reason, only renters but I dont have renters 🙁

It was just a shot in the dark, but I thought I would ask you guys since the people at Wacom would not answer my question, only try to sell me a newer model.

Cheers!
