Direction of real wave Splash

Hi Everyone. Still new to real flow here, following tutorials from Digital Tutors at the moment.

I’m very curious about realwave object splash. I’m testing out with a simple bird model diving into the sea. There are tons of particles being emitted downward into the sea and not so many emitting upwards into the air…. Is there a way to force it to only go above the sea? Right now I’m using the volume to kill off particles going below, but it seems such a waste of particles : /

Retimer Question

First time posting here and hope I am posting to the right spot.

I am pretty new to RealFlow (2012), in general, but wanted to do something a bit more advanced. Currently, I am working on a project that involves a water splash and a double helix growing out of it. I already have the splash simulation done and the double helix as two different files and was going to combine them using a bin loader. Where I am having trouble is retiming the simulation.

Right where the splash reaches it’s peak, I need to slow it down (t/9) and then have it resume at normal speed so I can do some camera movements in maya. So I have been trying to use retimer to basically stretch frames 15-20 to 15-179 and then have it resume to normal speed after.

I just really don’t know how to stretch just part of the simulation successfully and wanted to see if anyone had any pointers. I have tried an if statement, but pretty sure my equation is completely wrong.

if(14<t<21,1,t/9)

Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Working with PFtrack & realflow for milk pour…HELP!

Hey guys I’m a noob when it comes to this so I’ll be clear as possible.

Currently I am working on a short film. One of the shots show a person pouring milk out of a carton. The film is shot in live action however I want to insert 3d animation for the carton and the milk.

Im using

Maya 2011 for the modelling & rendering,
PFtrack for the tracking composition and
Realflow 5 for the milk effect.

I insert the 3d carton into PFtrack and use its tracking to link the 3d object to the live action footage. Exporting this into Maya shows that the camera moves and not the 3d carton.

Therefore…

How am I supposed to get the carton to pour milk if the 3d carton doesnt move? Realflow requires the 3d object to move as to get the physics, right?

I hope this is clear enough, im tearing my hair out here any help would be fab

cheers
