Colorization Demo reel

Hello everyone,

I am currently a student at the D.A.V.E school. I’m about to graduate and ive been looking for a job in film colorization. I really spent alot of time on this demo reel. This is my dream, I love colorizing old black and white films. So, if anyone needs a rotoscope/rotopaint artist I would love to hear from you.

I use Fusion for most of my work. However, I am also experienced in Nuke, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightwave, and a few other programs. Here, is my demo reel. I hope everyone enjoys it.

MAX > MAYA transition question

Hello everybody!

As a Max user I find it a bit strange how primitives behave in Maya.

The problem is when I select vertex A vertex B is selected too (see files in attachment). Furthermore, if I move vertex A along axis Z, B does the same movement!
How to avoid this? What if I want to move vertex A only?

Any help is appreciated:)

Command Line Rendering with Maya 2011

Just something that I come up with related with command line rendering for Maya 2011.
This is the result of research over the internet and some books that I have. Not an very difficult thing to do but i think that for newbies like me this will help to understand the way it can be done. You can find the explanation in the following link:

disable a node based “on Error”

Hey, essentially I am trying to figure out error trapping via nukes expressions.

If I have a gizmo with three inputs, and I am pulling values via expressions from input3, then I disconnect input three, instead of a value I see the word ERROR. So I am assuming there should be a way to say:

If ERROR then change the value here.

I want to use this to disable nodes if certain pipes aren’t connected, and/or flip a switch on a switch node.

Thanks!

great Effects!

hi, deos anyone know how to achieve this effect? it looks great!

Taking foundry tutorials on your iPad

Just a quick thing I discovered by chance.

I wanted to carry about the Foundry Nuke videos with me on my ipad, for easy reference, especially when I’m at work. "But what about watching them on the Foundry website while at work?", you might ask. Hey, I’m glad you asked that! It’s becoming more and more common to have the internet SHUT OFF at your machines at work. "But what about using your laptop, or even ipad and use the company WIFI?". Hey, another good question. And again, more places seem to not want to offer wifi to their artists. Thanks Pirates. You’re making our lives a lot more difficult. And sometimes, just sometimes, I want want to review a video at a coffee shop. So there.

Back to the subject. I tried a test video on the VLC app on my iPad, and it couldn’t handle it. It was slow and choppy, and scrubbing was impossible. CineXplayer can only do divex movies, and the default Movie app (which is connected to itunes) can only do movies that are "compatible" with the iPad specs. Just for the hell of it, I dragged and dropped a foundry quicktime into itunes, but it won’t sync onto my ipad.

It’s looking like handbrake is becoming my only option. The only problem is I hate handbrake with a passion. I hate converting video. I hate how long it takes. I hate how my conversions always end up bigger than the original. I hate how I suck at it. I just hate it.

Then, I remembered the app Goodreader can also handle videos. I’ve thrown a couple clips onto that, but never considered using it as a full on video player. It served me mostly as a PDF reader. The main reason I never considered using it for media was because there is no thumbnail capability. So I throw on a few foundry videos, and BOOM. They play. Beautifully. And I can scrub.

So there you have it. You got an iPad? You want to carry Foundry tutorial videos along with you. Goodreader is your man. Just drag and drop. No conversion needed.
