Kijek Adamski Build A City With 1 km of Yarn

Simplicity, restraint, symbolism and practical approaches are all present in some of my favorite work this year. This latest stop-motion piece from Polish directing-duo Katarzyna Kijek & Przemysław Adamski for the Tomasz Stańko Quintet is a textbook example of implying an expansive environment and abstract narrative with the simplest tools and restrictions.

Using noting more than 1 km of yarn, a few flashlights and a lamp; Kijek and Adamski create an experience more consuming than any drive-by, city night-shoot could produce. This piece is but another reminder that limitations (technical or monetary) should not restrict creativity and that solutions outside of the computer can still serve as viable ones.

Brain-power still has a pretty good shot against render-power.

Scifi/drama shot on RED needs some help

Hey everyone!

We’re deep in post-production on a short scifi/drama about a woman from another planet crash landing into a lonely land owner’s forest.

It was shot on RED and we’re working with 2K DPX files. The movie will be mixed in 5.1 at the London National Film & Television School. It’s a low-budget project, no-pay for everyone involved, but the post team (11 active crew members at the moment!) is amazing and we only expect whatever time and energy you think you can give to the project. Once finished, the movie will be sent out to a number of festivals and promoted intensely online.

Two vfx artists with some experience in features are working hard to get everything done for the deadline on 6.6. but it’s become clear they will need some additional help. It would be mostly compositing work, removing tracker marks and some animating depending on what you think you could tackle of course. There’d be someone there to work with you from beginning through to end on each shot.

What will you get?
1) To collaborate with some pretty bright filmmaking talent, mostly from Finland.
2) Practical experience with high-quality footage.
3) A copy of the film and a premiere invitation if you can make it to Helsinki.

We don’t care about age, experience, location or if you can guarantee succeeding as long as you’re up for trying your best. If anyone’s interested, we need your help right now in May so get in touch asap: jesse.jokela@gmail.com

Thanks!
