Rotate/Pan problem?!!

I have 2-button mouse and and had to set the PAN option to another key combination rather than the middle mouse button click.. I can easily doly and rotate if I am working at the origin. If I am working off the origin and when I want to rotate it seems like I am rotating with respect to the origin and no with respect to what I have on the screen. Is this dull or I am?! Please help!!

MPC’s Richard Stammers on the vfx in Robin Hood

RobinHood_08

For Robin Hood, director Ridley Scott’s take on the classic
tale, MPC created hundreds of visual effects of medieval castles, an
invading French armada, CG troops and many, many arrows. Here’s my interview at fxguide with MPC
visual effects supervisor Richard Stammers about his work for the film.

Need a partner

I am doing a rebranding for a local TV station – nothing really big. The problem is that I’m only a beginner when it comes to compositing and cgi, so I am looking for someone with some experience to help me out with this project. There is no money involved so I am counting on people who would like to gain more experience working on this project. You can even add the resulting videos to your reel. Time isn’t a factor here but the sooner we are getting started, the better.

If there is someone interested just let me know so I can give you further details about the project. Thanks!

The Challenge

Through The Looking Glass to Underland

There is a place, like no place on earth. A land full of wonder, mystery and danger. Some say to survive it you need to be as mad as a hatter ….. Others say all you need is to gain ownership of Underlands ruling crown …..

Your best friend Alice Kingsley has disappeared during a garden party being held in the honour of her engagement to Hamish Ascot. A message has reached you via the White Rabbit that Alice has been spirited away to the magical underground world of Wonderland, or Underland as it is also known.

The White Rabbit has informed you that to assist Alice’s return to the real world you will need to follow her to Wonderland and help her to steal back the White Queens ruling crown from the Red Queen . Luckily a portal exists to the mysterious Underland through a large ornate looking glass, which leans against a wall in the dusty attic of Alice’s childhood home.

VFXTalk challenge you to create the character of Alice’s childhood friend, using the supplied footage, and take her through the looking glass in search of the White Queens ruling crown.
