fbx help

I’m trying to import some fbx data into nuke.
When the 3D guys open the fbx in maya, everything lines up (cameras and objects), but when i load in the fbx into the camera and readgeo node in Nuke, the camera is too far back.
Needless to say i’m pretty new at this, but can someone walk me through the steps?
I’ve tried the things in the manual, but that leads to the camera not being in the right position.

Also, does nuke measure hapature and vapature differently to maya? (mm vs. inches?)
Thanks so much for the help.

Layering images with a ‘Photoshop multiply’ effect?

I am currently in the process of learning shake… here is a brief explanation of what I am trying to create:

I have a paper texture image in the background, on top of that I want to animate separate grayscale images on top of that. I wan to to layer the grayscale images on top of the paper background using a method similar to Photoshop’s "multiply" effect.

The iMult node seems to do this, but everything outside of the top image frame then turns black (non-transparent). I found if I turn on the "Ignore Zero" option in the iMult it solves this problem, but creates 2 more… there is a now a black line outlining the image border and any black areas of the image are also now transparent.

I’m hoping there is a simple fix for this! This is driving me crazy… thank you for any help anyone can give!

Stu Maschwitz

By now, most of you have probably heard that The Orphanage has suspended operations. (Co-founder Stu Maschwitz explains further on his blog.)

This is as good time as any to appreciate Stu’s recently updated directorial reel, which shows off his finely developed acumen for storytelling and compelling visuals.

It should be noted that Orphanage Animation Studio, headed by Genndy Tartakovsky, is unaffected by The Orphanage’s closure and is still hard at work on The Power of the Dark Crystal.

Guidence on VFX Schools ?

Guys
i do know many would have asked this question several times before but let me make things clear . I would like u guys to suggest me the best places to study VFX in Canada or US . My interest lies mainly in order of vfx compositing , Dynamic effects , modelling and animation ( not rigging characters like stuff) of now. And i have no prob with long courses if it doesnt costs much and i do consider cash as factor.

I have my bachelors in science and right now doing a course in vfx in India as i thought my field of interest certainly lies in vfx and would like to expose to global standards.. waiting for ur suggestions….
