Colorist Craig Budrick Joins Post Logic Studios

Leading post-production facility Post Logic Studios, a division of Prime Focus Group, announced today the hire of colorist Craig Budrick. Budrick is an industry veteran with nearly two decades’ experience as a colorist. He joins Post Logic from Technicolor, where for the last two years he worked on remastering feature film projects for BluRay, including “Airplane,” “Wayne’s World” and “Planes, Trains & Automobiles.”

“We are extremely pleased to have Craig come on board,” said Larry Birstock, CEO, Post Logic Studios. “We have a relationship that goes back almost 20 years. He’s an incredible talent with a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and will be an enormous asset to our mastering clients.”

Budrick began his career as a colorist at Sunset Digital, formerly Sunset Post, where in 1987 he was first hired as a tape operator and vault supervisor before moving on in 1991 to become a telecine and edit assistant. Budrick remained with Sunset Digital for the next eight years mastering television series such as “Frasier” and “Almost Perfect,” and remastering features including “The Crow” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” In 1999 Budrick worked with both Matchframe and Complete Post, mastering dailies for a number of movie projects. In 2000, Budrick rejoined Sunset Digital, where he worked as a colorist until 2006, when he signed on with Technicolor, retransferring such television projects as “Cheers,” “Hawaii Five-O” and the original “Star Trek” series for BluRay and DVD.

“I’m very excited to be joining Post Logic,” said Budrick. “The people here are fantastic to work with, and the technology at the facility is first-rate. I’m already hard at work, and am looking forward to upcoming projects.”

Universal Everything: Art Films for Nokia

nokia
Universal Everything kicks off a series of Art Films they are creating for Nokia with this beautiful piece directed by Matt Pyke with the style and animation created by graphic 3d master Maxim Zhestkov. Typical advertising turned into art by Universal Everything, this looks to become another Advance Beauty with more spots on the way (Pyke is looking for “3d animation genius” support for future films if you are up to the task).

Greg Herman: More Chi 2.0

greg-herman-morechi

It’s been a long time coming, but Motionographer’s very own Greg Herman has finally relaunched his web presence, More Chi. It was totally worth the wait.

Greg is one of those rare creatures that does it all—and does it very well. He honed his animation and design skills as a member of the original Digital Kitchen NY team, but he’s also an artist in his own right. His loves of photography and painting can be seen in his work, and he’s developing his directorial voice with two short film projects that are currently in the works.

(Oh, and if you ever put him behind a drum set, prepare to have your ears melted off your head.)

Now stationed in the beautiful surroundings of Black Mountain, North Carolina, Greg is freelancing and dreaming big.

First work in HD –

Hi,
i am elaborating a budget for a video work, and is the first time i´ll work in HD format. I have previously worked in dv formats or in still images of medium to hight resolution.

this time, i´ll have to comp some 3d water walls impacting on people and such things..
My question is, concerning my factible render times out of 3dsmax, if it is an usual practice to render at a slightly lower resolution. considering that digital generated image should be somehow crisper and supposing i could enlarge them at comping time in HD.

I hope this makes sense and waiting to know yor thoughts.
thanks in advance
