Skills a Compositor requires?

Hello guys,
Since im keen on becoming a Compositor,I would like to know what are the Skills a Compositor requires?apart frm knowing the SW’s and "a keen eye"

How much of a knowledge should a Compositor have abt 3d?
should one be trained in and will have to regularly work in 3DS/Maya?and should be able to create 3d models?….or jst have a basic idea abt it?

Can Composting be an ideal career path if you are not good at 3d Modeling and Drawing?

Thank you

Visual Effects behind the scenes DVD

I have been looking for a DVD that shows how visual effects are used in movies today and how visual effects have developed over the years. Kind of like a behind the scenes dvd which uses well known movies as examples and show the most common techniques like greenscreening, rotoscoping, matchmoving, CG and so on. Not a tutorial based dvd, but more like an extensive behind the scenes or a documentary. Does anyone know if such a dvd exists? Recommendations?

Thanks!

Lens Distortion

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can help me out. I shot on an Panasonic HVX 200 and I was zoomed all the way out. I was hoping if there is a way that I can fix lens distortion. If its in a tracking program I have syntheyes and matchmover however I am more comfortable with syntheyes. I am uploading the first sequence of an image sequence.

Thanks for the help

shadow and reflection recreation question

Ok, So i wanted to get everyones feed back on how they recreate shadows and reflections for people shot on a greenscreen and are running AWAY from the camera.

Since there feet or moving away in z space you cant just take their mattes, flip and skew them, and call it a day. I usually end up rotoing their legs individually and key framing each leg separately so they always have contact when the real foot hits the floor.

what do you guys do? there has to be a more accurate way then how I am doing it. Thanks in advance.
