NewBreedVFX is looking for Nuke compositors starting now until the end of January

The duty of compositors is to seamlessly integrate all the layers or elements of a shot, including live-action and computer graphic elements. They need to have a complete knowledge of the VFX pipeline. Compositors work closely with Supervisors and Lighting and FX artists to composite the numerous elements that complete a visual effects shot.
Qualifications :

  • Strong sense of composition and color.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A full working knowledge of Nuke, knowledge of Shake, Tokik or Houdini can be a plus.
  • Some knowledge of lighting and rendering in some 3D package(s) can be a plus.
  • A good knowledge of Linux would be an advantage. Familiarity with Windows useful but not essential.
  • At least 1 years experience in feature films would be beneficial. Experience in other areas of visual effects (TV, Games) will also be taken into account.
  • Team oriented.
  • Able to learn in-house workflows and methodologies.

Newbreed Visual Effects is looking for a TD/software developer for its R&D department.
Tasks will include: participation in the development and maintenance of our VFX pipeline software, development of plug-ins for third-party software integration in our pipeline and according to specific production needs and development of stand-alone tools for the aforementioned.
Newbreed VFX is looking for a team player, someone with initiative and the ability to think outside the box, with problem solving skills and a good understanding of the production pipeline, and the ability to work and to deliver working solutions and tools within a tight production or development schedule.
Responsibilities :

  • Participate in the development of our in-house pipeline software.
  • Write plug-ins for the integration of third-party software (3D and compositing packages, etc).
  • Create tools and scripts to address specific production needs.
  • Work with R&D management to prioritize tasks.
  • Keep CG Supervisor informed of progress, changes and issues.

Requirements :

  • Experience in tools and pipeline development in the field of CG production.
  • Good working knowledge of Python, C/C++, MEL and shell scripting.
  • Experience in cross-platform UI development.
  • Knowledge of MySQL, Perl, PHP an asset.

We are a Boutique VFX and Post house located in Burbank, CA. We service features, TV shows and documentaries for all stages of VFX and picture post processing using streamlined Final Cut Pro workflows.

We currently have an opening for a Media Manager/VFX Artist for a TV series as commencing on/around Jan 14th 2011 and running through to mid-August.



In the position of Media Manager/VFX Artist you will act as our hands-on, go to person for receipt, organization and distribution of all incoming and outgoing media materials.



Duties will include rendering and distributing regular VFX string-outs and collection/distribution of digital assets to our main VFX artist and rendering completed shots. As part of your role, we would also like you to assist the key artists with rotoscoping, prepping some 2D and 3D effects as well as completing less complex shots for the production.



As we are a small business excellent organizational, technical problem solving and communication skills is a must and your ability to be flexible in order to meet deadlines will be required.

Position Summary:
The Digital Production Coordinator reports to the Director, Digital Production and supports three Department Managers. The Coordinator will assist management with their daily needs. This position also acts as a liaison between the Departments to ensure a clear line of communication. Addition duties require heavy scheduling and administrative task as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in approving timesheets for artists on production evaluating proper time logging and use of overtime hours.
  • Assist in accurate tracking of Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sabbatical Requests.
  • Provide assistance in monitoring artist contractual information to the Managers.
  • Maintain the productions seating arrangements in coordination with the Production Managers and Facilities personnel.

On Set VFX Supervisor Needed

In this position you will act on our behalf as the hands-on go to person on set for all on set VFX work. You will also be required to complete VFX shots during times where on set VFX supervision is not required.

You must have excellent production communication and liaison skills between the main production players and our team.

As a highly organized and energetic problem solver you love constructing and updating VFX breakdowns, constantly being part of the on-set VFX consultation/coordination and will have a solid understanding of the VFX production workflow requirements to keep our team within budget and schedule.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years in either a VFX Supervisor and/or Lead VFX Generalist/Artist on various productions.
  • An undergraduate degree in computer science or related field an asset.

Needs to Do

The position of Lighting Technical Director requires someone with a thorough knowledge of 3D Computer Graphics, with several years of experience in a similar role working on broadcast or film projects. Successful applicants will have a well developed ‘eye’, a good working knowledge of art, design and film lighting as well as a solid technical grounding in renderers like Pixar’s Renderman or Mental Ray. Some experience in Look Development and shader setup would be an advantage.

Needs to Know

• Full knowledge of Maya (Mel knowledge a plus) and/ or Houdini
• Familiarity with pipeline issues
• Demonstrable experience in shot lighting and rendering
• Showreels featuring ‘photoreal’ work would be preferred
