Matchover/Layout Artist

A Matchmover/Layout Artist recreates the sets, objects and camera motion of a shot in a 3D software environment to match the live-action background plate images.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Create sets, proxy props and other models based on supplied set data and/or other available survey information.

– Include proof of scale in virtual layout setup.

– Set up virtual camera from data sheets and track camera motion.

– Matchmove objects/characters to match the action in the live action plates.

– Render track / matchmove over supplied plates for approval.

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Experience with Maya, PF Track, or other high-end 3D Tracking software packages is essential.

– Visual effects experience in feature films or episodic production is desired.

– Experience with detailed modeling an asset.

Software Department Production Assistant

MPC is one of the world’s leading post production facilities creating high-end digital visual effects for the television and feature film industries. This is the responsibility of the Software team, where MPC seeks to appoint a Production Assistant to help support the team’s day to day activities.

If you like the idea of working with a group of highly motivated technology specialists, helping to run a very busy department, we’re looking for a quick learner who is super organised, pro-active and keen. The ideal applicant has excellent communication skills, good attention to detail and loads of common sense.

Responsibilities to include:

·Coordination of meetings and diary management
·Meeting minutes and followup on action points
·Liaison with other departments and production teams
·Keeping holiday/absence records and coordinating cover when members of the team are away
·Managing the timesheeting process for the team
·Coordinating seating, introductions and training for new starters
·Managing a schedule of presentations and training sessions
·Managing and updating the team’s intranet pages
·Coordination of delegates and presentations for industry conferences
·General administration eg: stationery orders, reporting maintenance issues
·General team communications and social events, usually involving cake

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

·Strong organisation and communication skills
·Good Microsoft Office skills

Description MPC are currently looking to recruit Senior Lighting TD’s to work on various projects on short term contracts.
Responsibilities:

• Light and render CG elements to match live action footage using MPC’s standardized toolset.
• Manage render scene’s, elements and assets.
• Composite rendered CG elements and live action for daily progress reviews.
• Technically and creatively maintain consistent shot quality and look for sequences as specified by lighting supervisor and CG supervisor.
• Develop shots in collaboration with shot compositor.
• Deliver renders according to agreed deadlines and schedules and specifications.
• Support lighting lead with technical and creative supervision.
• Support lighting and rendering pipeline for shots and sequences.
• Look development of rendered CG objects across shots and sequences.
• Monitor daily progress together with lead lighting TD and supervisors.
• Maintain daily routines, review processes and development cycles.
• Work with production to create schedules and project targets.
• Reports to lead lighter & supervisors.

Experience and Skills:

• Thorough understanding of techniques and technologies related to CG rendering and compositing.
• Good team leading ability’s
• Good communication skills.
• Proven experience in leading / managing a team of artists.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Shading and lighting & rendering terminology.
• Very good understanding of production pipelines.
• Very good knowledge of a renderer such as Mental Ray or Renderman.
• Very good knowledge of a compositing software.
• Proven production experience in a large feature film production environment.
• Thorough understanding of computer graphics and the visual effects process.
• General understanding of linux / unix based operating systems
• Some understanding of programming / software development.
• TCL, MEL, Perl and Python, programming also an advantage.

Expected to be attentive to emerging industry technologies and production techniques, and determines practical applications for these advancements in order to improve production.

Strong aesthetic sense; demonstrates ability to make creative and aesthetic judgment calls quickly and under significant pressure..
