General Duties and Responsibilities:
· Strong interest in 3D stereography.
· Overall working knowledge of Nuke compositing techniques in motion picture pipelines.
· Developing time-saving, production-savvy techniques for the selection of difficult elements within 2D footage.
· Delivering stereo shots that are creatively converted under production timelines.
· Mentoring junior compositors.
· Attending daily scrum meetings.
· Working closely with the Stereo Production Manager to complete overall quality control requirements on finished shots.
· Work closely with Technical Art Directors and the Stereo Compositing Art Lead on conversion of 2D plates.
· Troubleshoot production pipeline issues.

Qualifications:
· Education background in Digital Art or Technology.
· Previous production experience with node-based compositing.
· Proven special effects work using Nuke.
· Keen understanding of colour space and its relation to compositing.
· Open-mindedness and the ability to problem solve in a deadline driven environment.
· Able to communicate effectively with other digital artists.

FX Supervisor- Method Studios LA

Based in Los Angeles, with locations in Vancouver, London and New York, Method is a leading post production facility providing a full range of visual effects services. Duties and Responsibilities
– Supervise the FX team and mentor artists to ensure the creation of high quality FX.
– Build or supervise the building of tools that can be used to execute multiple FXs across many shots
– Responsible for pipelining multiple Fx across many shots
– Responsible for directing the overall FX quality in shots and conducting rounds to determine which shots are ready to show to Director.
– Conduct script breakdowns for FX and develop appropriate schedules to work with available resources and to prioritize tasks.
– Work with CG Supervisor to determine which technology will be required to meet the needs of the FX department.
– Collaborate with other departments and supervisors to resolve technical problems.
– Proactively communicate any information about FX to other departments as necessary.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of particle systems and fluid dynamics in Maya and/or Houdini.
• Expertise in compositing theory, concepts, and techniques. Nuke experience a plus.
• Knowledge of surfacing, modeling, lighting, and rendering in CG.
• 6+ years of production experience with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role on a feature film.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills.

Lead 3D artist at Impact Digital NYC

Hi guys,

We are looking for a lead CG artist – Staff position in NYC.

The position is opened right now, you don’t need to be a TD, but you need to be flexible, able to manage a team, setting up pipeline, a bit of IT is not a bad thing neither.
We work essentially with Max – RF – Vray – Fry – PF – NUKE
We do essentially FX and motion. You have to be able to work on high res photo-realistic rendering (actually was the main field of the department 2 years ago) meaning:

Hard Modeling and Orga – NURBS (PN) – extensive skills in lighting (studio). Rendering 6k to 10k.

Your main task is to process the jobs which are coming in and manage the department when it is growing. We used to 4 artists here, it will go this way again.

FX and realistic rendering are the key. You will work with the motion department, Flame Dpt and editors / Producers.

HOUDINI FX Artist (LA)

A LA based studio is currently lookign for a HOUDINI FX Artist.

Responsibilities

• Design and animate high quality, photo-real effects (dust, fire, smoke, explosions, debris, clouds, etc.) that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project
• Work within the show structure and production deadlines to complete all tasks
• Integrate created elements into scenes with lighting, shadows, reflections, etc.
• Work closely with Lighting Artist and Compositors to ensure all effects will work smoothly within the show pipeline
• Produce look tests based on provided reference materials
• Has good communication skills and is able to take direction from FX Leads and FX TDs

Requirements

• Degree in Animation, Arts, Fine Arts or equivalent production experience
• Working knowledge of Houdini
• Knowledge of any and/or all of the following: rigid body and particle dynamics, volume modeling and rendering, procedural geometry generation and fluid dynamics
• Strong understanding of physical dynamics and natural phenomena
• Experience with one or more other professional software packages such as Maya, Nuke is a plus
• Proficiency in shading and rendering techniques, ideally both Mantra and Renderman
• Requires strong technical knowledge and organizational skills

2D Senior Visual Effects

2D Senior Visual Effects

The Visual Effects department within Sky Creative provides visual effects, animation, grading and mastering of promos, titles and branding across a wide range of briefs to fulfil business needs. In order to continue to produce quality and exciting work, we now are looking for a 2D senior who will bring experience to the Visual Effects team both technically and creatively to produce high-end visual effects and animation up to HD quality in a fast-paced broadcast environment.

Your Key responsibilities will include:

  • Hands-on compositing on Nuke. Autodesk Flame knowledge would be a benefit but not essential
  • Specialising in complex visual effects based projects, potentially incorporating 3d tracking, photo-real composition of 2d and 3d elements, and other high-end effects. Individuals would also be expected to work on other projects as necessary, including day to day and promo work.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with Designers, Directors, Creative Directors and all internal departments to ensure visual effects workflow is efficient and produces the level of work expected
  • Supervise small projects and assist in planning staffing and workflow on individual projects within the 2D team. Duties will include but are not limited to, project setup, time and resource planning, technical and creative direction, problem solving at a strategic and local level and day to day supervision.
  • Close collaboration with the Visual Effects and CG Supervisors
  • Collaborating with 3D team members when required
  • Visual effects supervision on shoots when required
  • Advise on software and hardware and research new technology when required
  • Mentoring to all members of staff within the visual effects team.

Senior Character Rigging TD

Fin Design and Effects is looking for a senior character rigging TD. The project involves rigging a photoreal animal similar to a cow or horse for use in a high profile 60 second TVC. The animal would be used in both shot-specific keyframe animations and Massive-driven crowd scenes. In addition to rigging the creature, the applicant will be closely involved with integrating it into the massive pipeline and creating level-of-detail assets for interactive animation, distant crowd shots, etc.

Due to the scrutiny that the animal will receive over many shots, it is essential that the applicant has a proven track record working with muscle/skin systems either at a feature film or high-end TVC level. A showreel demonstrating this level of ability is a prerequisite for consideration.

Project Duration: 6-8 weeks starting 13th June
