Requirements include:

– expert knowledge of Final Cut Pro
– familiarity using Tweak RV and framecycler
– familiarity using Cinesync
– be able to convert between key numbers / timecode and frames

Responsibilities:


– maintain sequence edits and inserting visual effect shots into the timeline
– ensure the production database is maintained with shot counts and lineup
– ensure that shots cut into the sequence are correct in terms of counts and lineup
– preparing sequence edits for client approval when required
– organize and run the dailies session and/or client reviews/cinesyncs
– perform shot specific color corrections to match avid telecine when required

Vancouver based Visual Effects studio seeking Senior level VFX Sup/Compositor

Qualified candidates must have:

– a substantial industry contact and client base, and a proven track record in attracting and retaining VFX projects from studios in Canada and internationally;
– senior level experience in visual effects production and post-production supervision/management, including:
– on-set supervision for television, features and commercials;
– budgeting for television and feature film projects;
– resource scheduling;

Render Pipeline TD

General Description:

This position is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining core render pipeline infrastructure used throughout the company, including review and dailies pipeline as well as asset tracking.

He/She will apply principles of computer science, engineering and mathematics to maintain and troubleshoot the hardware and software systems and work with various media production team members to identify technology solutions and define workflows and interfaces.

Requirements:

· Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or Perl).
· Exposure to Linux/KDE and corresponding open source tools.
· Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, or related preferred) plus one year of experience as a
Software Engineer or related occupation.
· Experience with computer graphics tools preferred.
· Experience with database systems preferred.
· Some experience with C++ is recommended
· Overall CG Pipeline, editorial, operating system, and/or networking
experience helpful.

· Maya
· Vray or 3Delight
· Shotgun

Job Summary:

Our Santa Monica studio is looking for a Senior Software Developer to implement and improve our existing in-house pipeline and toolset, as well as integrate and maintain various 2D and 3D third party software applications.

Job Duties:
The position involves design, implementation, testing and debugging of productivity-enhancing tools for artists and supervisors. Additionally the role requires strong technical and problem solving skills, experience in software design, graphics, and production workflow. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are critical. Productive interaction and discussions with the rest of the development team is paramount.

Job Requirements:
3+ years Film and or TV production experience
3+ years experience in a software development environment
Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Mathematics or comparable professional experience

VFX Internship @ MPC this Summer

We are proud to announce the expansion of MPC’s Graduate Recruitment Programme with the launch of MPC ‘First Step’. This scheme aims to help students get the most out of their studies and start their careers at MPC even before they graduate! The departments currently participating in the scheme are Assets, Animation, FX, Lighting, Compositing & Software. Students will be provided with accommodation in the heart of Soho for their 8 week summer school. They will also receive an allowance to help them with the cost of living in London.
8 week Summer School at MPC

Students will get to spend 8 weeks living in the heart of Soho and working alongside artists at MPC on actual film shots. They will receive live feedback from experienced artists on their work and gain valuable insight into life at MPC. Joining us on the 4th July, the students will spend summer enjoying the best of MPC and London, learning about the Visual Effects pipeline and practicing their skills on some of the best film projects around. In addition to working full time in their chosen departments, students will also be introduced to other teams at MPC in weekly presentations and have the opportunity to socialise with the people who create some of the most incredible film visual effects in the world!
Final Year Mentoring from experienced artists at MPC

Once students return to their studies they will keep in contact with the senior artist they meet during the Summer School and receive online mentoring from them and the team at MPC. This regular feedback will help shape and influence their final year project, preparing them for life at MPC after they graduate.
