Filmgate are seeking a talented full time Matte Painter to work closely within the visual effects team in Göteborg, Sweden, to create a wide variety of digital environments for upcoming feature film projects. Our film pipeline is heavily based around The Foundry’s Nuke and Autodesk’s Maya. You will also be working with 3D projections in these packages. Any additional experience within the 3D department is a huge plus. A minimum of a 2 year experience in a similar environment is required for this position.

Technical Environment Artist
Responsibilities

  • Work with the environment art team to deliver high quality assets, environment detailing and support environment pipeline efficiency.
  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of high quality environment assets to the project’s specifications.
  • Take responsibility for producing own work to a high standard and to any agreed schedules.
  • Be able to provide technical support and guidance to other environment team members when required.
  • Present ideas and artwork in such a way as to communicate ideas clearly, explaining artistic and technical issues.


Requirements & Skills

  • Exceptional modeling and texture skills at a high level of quality both at high and low resolutions for games.
  • Experience working with multi-pass shader effects (diffuse maps, specular maps, bump maps, normal maps, etc).
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D modeling software – Maya or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of 2D software – Photoshop or equivalent.
  • A strong knowledge and ability to work to specific budgetary requirements and develop ways to achieve the best results within those limits.
  • Mel Script knowledge.
  • 3+ years experience in modeling and texturing environments using Maya and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs).
  • Must have good people skills and have the ability to excel in a creative and positive manner with the rest of the team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to self manage and meet deadlines.
  • Solid traditional art skills are a benefit
