Position Summary:

The Matchmove TD is responsible for reproducing the geometry, camera movement and object movement of a live action shot in a 3D environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Supervise the tracking of CG elements, both camera and objects to match live-action footage in a 3D environment and to maintain consistent shot quality
· Work with production to create matchmove schedules and project targets for your show
· Work to define any specific matchmove tools required for the show and identify any additions or modifications to our existing toolset required to realize this pipeline
· Monitor daily progress to ensure targets are being met, adjusting the pipeline and schedules as necessary
· Conform any Lidar scans, Survey Data or matchmove specific geometry prior to starting a sequence

Requirements:
· Must have thorough knowledge of software based object tracking and 3D rotoscoping of a digital model to a live action background
· Proven Matchmove experience in a large feature-film VFX production environment
· Must be proficient in: 3D Equalizer, Maya and Boujou
· Knowledge of Nuke an advantage
· Experience with other tracking software (eg Matchmover) taken into account
· Must be able to model and manipulate geometry for scene reconstruction and to aid tracking
· Candidates should demonstrate a good eye for detail and precision with strong problem-solving skills
· Must have a solid understanding of camera moves and filming techniques
· Excellent communication skills
· General understanding of linux/unix-based operating systems
· On set experience an advantage
· At least 3 to 4 years of relevant experience.

MPC Vancouver- Mid- level Rigging TD

Position Summary:

MPC Vancouver is looking for experienced Film VFX Rigging TDs to join our team in 2011.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Uses an array of commercial and proprietary tools to create character rigs
· Design control mechanism’s that are simple and intuitive
· Work in conjunction with the modelling department and animation department to create photorealistic characters
· Integration of characters and rigs into the production pipeline.
· Create User Interfaces and tools that assist animators
· Works in partnership with R&D programmers, Animators, Lighting TD’s to ensure shots are delivered to the very highest standard
· Provide support to character rigs throughout production
· Write scripts that automate character production

Requirements:

· Thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to character rigging and animation, with a show reel to back this up
· Understanding of puppet and control philosophy
· Excellent understanding of anatomy, volumes and masses, dynamics and character motion
· Experience in feature film/broadcast visual effects production
· Good understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting to modelling to texturing, animation and rendering
· Good computer skills, particularly with UNIX/Linux command line interface
· MEL programming essential
· Maya API C++ programming also a plus
· At least 3 years less than 5 years of relevant experience

The position:
You will be working amongst some of the most talented visual effects artists, but in the IT department, in a small team of dedicated employees. Primary tasks of the IT department are keeping the artists working and keeping the pipeline running smoothly, as well as security and scalability implementations.

Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to many aspects of our production network; including user support, OS management and scripting. The precise tasks can vary depending on what you bring to the table, but some of the outstanding responsibilities are:
-manage and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on user workstations running Mac, Linux and occasionally Windows
-BASH and/or Python scripting to increase production in our area of supporting the artists
-assisting with other items such as power issues, building issues, and other general Issues
-ethernet cabling, power cabling, server setups and take downs, deployments

Qualifications:
-knowledge of OSX, CentOS/RHEL, Fedora including software management and deployment
-knowledge of and some experience with networking concepts and network implementations
-basic knowledge of DNS, LDAP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SSH, RDP and other common protocols
-proactive, curious, energetic, troubleshooter

MPC Vancouver- Modeller TD

Position Summary:

Candidates should be willing to consider their task part of the creative process, not only a matter of duplicating scans or drawings. Often designs must change in the modelling/rigging phase. So a design and/or sculpting background would be ideal but not essential. Some technical proficiency with building models for deformations (like blendshapes, deformers and muscle/skin simulators) is a must. Solid production experience required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· To bring a creative spirit to the task
· To build 3D models which artistically represent the designs while technically meeting the needs of other processes
· To be flexible and team oriented
· To communicate about their progress and ideas with their supervisor and producer daily

Requirements:

· Ability to interpret models from both 3D scans or 2D artwork
· Advanced UV skills a must
· Experience building models for facial and body deformations
· Thorough working knowledge of Maya’s modelling tools, and Zbrush/Mudbox
· Knowledge of any supplemental modelling tools or additional packages a plus eg: Cyslice
· Experience working in a Linux environment
· Fine art skills and design background a plus (sculpture, drawing, Industrial Design)

Position Summary:

We are looking to recruit an experienced FX Department Coordinator to work with the Production team and Supervisors on our current film projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Supporting HOD, Producers and Supervisors in implementing project plans and meeting deadlines
· Working with the FX HOD to coordinate the FX team
· Assisting in both the creation and maintenance of FX department schedules
· Working with FX artists to implement scheduled deliveries and milestones, along with reporting back status of tasks and milestone targets
· Scheduling meetings and daily reviews, note taking and database management
· Organizing reference materials and tracking incoming and outgoing deliveries to and from clients

Requirements:

· The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating on at least two significant projects of 80+ shots in an established VFX facility as an FX department coordinator
· A solid understanding of CG production pipelines and post production is required and a willingness to learn and adapt requested
· Excellent people skills and a proven ability to work in a team environment
· Strong project management skills and a sensitivity towards deadline related deliveries
· At a technical level a familiarity with standard Microsoft office applications is essential, especially Excel and Word, with further knowledge in Filemaker Pro and Microsoft Project being advantageous
· An ability to handle multiple tasks under varying degrees of pressure is a must
