Lens un-distortion with no cropping of original plate?

Hi everyone,

Bear with me because I use Fusion for my day job 😉

At the moment I am trying to go through an undistortion pipeline to use for match moving and the integration of CG elements.

The Nuke Lens distortion node does a very good job of undistorting a plate using a lens grid but is there any way to stop it cropping the output image and just overscan instead? (black BG with bent edges of frame, see pic)

The reason why I want to use Nuke to undistort the plate instead of my match moving program is that its a lot more accurate, syntheyes does not take into account distortion being off centre (which it is) or multiple types of distortion in one frame.

Hope someone can shed some light on it for me 😀
Thanks guys!

Liquify in Nuke

Hi.

There is this nice Liquify Brush in After Effects, which distorts the pixel based on the brush painting.

Is there something similiar in Nuke?

Thank you very much!

GridWarp and tracking data

Hi,

Is it possible to motion track only the destination grid and the source grid to stay in the same position all the time somehow. Cause when pipe a tracker in, both the source and the destination grid are moving together. Some workaround for this? I cannot think of anything right now.

Thanks

—–>Channels organization – Display / Access

Hi,
I have a nuke script with a lot of channels inside. I work with exr and 3d passes.
Is there a way to reorganize (may be to group) those channels in Nuke to make the access more confortable ?

For example if I want to create a matte from the copy node, Nuke shows me ALL the channels of my work.

NB : The nomenclature for my different channels is very correct.

Thanks

Fbx framerate issues

Hi all!

I’m having some issues getting a cameratrack done in nuke, over to max. I hope you can help me

In nuke, the project settings are set to 25 fps. I export the camera using the writegeo node (connected to the scene node) When i import the fbx from nuke into max, and load up the image sequense I tracked, the camera animation doesnt sync up unless i set max to 24fps.

I’ve did some googling before posting this, and though I’ve found a few people who have the same issue, I haven’t seen any solution yet.

It seems max thinks the fbx is 24 fps. Does nuke always export fbx in 24 fps or is max not interpreting it correctly?

I read somewhere that some animation packages ignored the framerate in the fbx file…

Anyone have any ideas?

EXR—> output pass / color problem

hi,
I have an exr in Nuke. A red Bottle.
I try to output each pass as TGA.
It’s ok for the output but on each pass the color is not the good one. It change to blue. For example the ambiant became blue.

What can I do to keep the original color of the bottle ?
thanks

Electronic newspaper project

Hi,

I have absorbed some more information for the nuke workflow and now i wanna put to the test what have learned till now 🙂 . I’v come to an idea to build up electronic news paper.. (something similar to harry potter newspaper)

I plan to do this using the 3d system of nuke projecting everything in there and animating it so i would achive more realistic effect where the paper is a little twisted and mooved.. I am going to 3d track the shoot and integrate my 3d elements with the tracking data (since would be much more fun if there was camera movement) however i still haven’t find a footage that i will use (if you have some recommendation or you have your own please give me a link or something- my camera is not working atm)

Thats my "rough" plan for now how i think i can build it – any advices are welcomed 🙂

and for now i have one little problem i cant figure out how can i 3d manipulate the 3dPlate inside nuke… (should i go and model the paper in maya- however i would like to see if i can do this in nuke since it’s very simple object)

thanks

Nuke 3D scene to Maya – image plane not lining up

Hi there

Trying to go from a camera tracked scene in Nukex 6.1 to Maya 2011. The footage I’m using is here http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/articles…s-rig-removal/

I’m exporting from Nuke as an FBX and then importing that into Maya
(using the latest Maya fbx plugin as well)

I can’t seem to get the Nuke Axes to line up on the Maya Image plane

Scratching my head what to do next? Could it be a inches to centimetres conversion problem?

I can track the footage in PFTrack and it imports fines into Maya. But I’d rather do this in Nuke.

thanks in advance
