HDRI/Environment lighting?

Hi,
I’ve never attempted any kind of HDR or environment lighting before and am really interested in getting stuck in now as I’m starting do work more and more with 3D objects in Nuke.

To clarify, I have absolutely no idea how to successfully build an environment lit scene as of yet.
I recently spotted an application called http://www.hdrlightstudio.com/, which looks incredible!
Perhaps I’m barking up the wrong tree here, but it looks to offer a great way to build your lighting system externally with or without HDRIs, and then export an EXR or HDRI to bring into (in my case) Nuke to use as an environment light map perhaps?

However, even if this package does exactly that and is perfect for my needs, unfortunately it’s Windows only. and I’m a Mac guy

If anyone has any advice as to what work flow I could adopt to start learning about environment lighting, I would be eternally grateful.

Many many many thanks in advance!

Gizmo to deactivate multisampling

hey,

for any of you python/tcl guys out there 🙂

i´d like to create a node/gizmo for setting the Multisampling-value temporarily to 0 in all of the ScanlineRender-Nodes in my script.
It should be possible to have several ScanlineRenderers with varying values for multisampling. while working in FullRes it would be nice to have one node with that I could set all of them to "Multisample>samples" zero, and for rendering I wanna switch them back to their original (different) values.

any ideas?

thanks in advance!!!!

Parenting Question

Hi

I would like to parent a parameter to an other.

It’s easy for example to take the multiply from a grade and with ctrl drag and drop into an other grade;

My questions is, how can I parent a panel like channel or depth. I would like to change the channel only one time and it will change it for several nodes.

I’m not looking for a python command in a script editor but I would like something similar than parenting, changing on a gizmo control once and it will change every node inside the gizmo.

Thanks for your help 🙂

Optimized Anaglyph

Hi,

Is there a way to built an anaglyph node that creates uses this method (http://www.3dtv.at/knowhow/anaglyphcomparison_en.aspx) for optimized colors?

I just tried to wrap my head around the math, but failed.

Retrack part of a CameraTrack?

Hey everybody,

I’m working on a 600+ frame 3D Camera track and everything was going swimmingly until I was notified that I needed to add an extra 40 frames to the head of the track.

I’ve retracked the shot, but now there’s a glitch within the first 16 frames that I’m trying to track down. Is it possible to retrack those frames without losing the rest of my track?

I’ve tried setting my analysis range to the part I want to fix, but clicking "Track Features" tells me it will reset everything, and it didn’t lie. I’ve tried exporting my successful track and reimporting it as a user track, but it’s not solving correctly, and all of the geometry I originally placed is no longer fitting, or on the same axis. I’ve tried troubleshooting that by making sure my solver settings were identical, but I’m guessing its trying to solve at different focal lengths.

Is there a way to append the new frames to my original previously successful 1st track?

I’m about to start over, but this happens often enough that I’d appreciate some advice if somebody knows how to work through this.

Thanks!
(sorry, I can’t provide any of my flow due to a few pieces of paper I’ve signed, because fellow employees have done some dumb stuff in the past.)

Create all the nodes required for a 3d scene at once

Hello!

I’m currently doing a lot of 3d projections and wondering if there’s a way to create all the required nodes for a 3d scene at once? i.e one project3d, applymaterial, camera, scene and a scanlinerender node and perhaps a geometry of some sort?

Perhaps a gizmo can solve this? But I have absolutely zero knowledge of how to write a gizmo. 🙂

Cheers!

fine tuning RigRemoval

All,

I process raw photography and video for a company that does aerial survey for large infrastructure like utilities, highways, etc…

For video we moved from a static DV camera to a gimbal mounted raw HD imager. Aside from it’s many benefits we now, on occasion have bug splats in our video. To provide the best quality video for our client we would like to remove these splats.

For one project in particular we have a total of 40 hours of video, 10 hours have bug splats. Though it’s a big task to remove setting up a bank of computers to crunch through it 24/7 is no big deal. It has to have good results though.

I have tested a number of software packages and NukeX is what I will purchase but I’m still unsure if the job can be done well.

I have attached 2 frames to this post and each frame has an original and a nuked (rigremoval) version. In the first frame the bug splat is just over ground and in all frames like these the bug removal is near perfect. The second frame is taken from 3 seconds later where the splat crosses over part of the transmission tower and the tower is deformed by the rigremoval. Sadly, this part is more important than the ground. Even under the deformed portion of the tower the ground looks great but I guess there is much less change in perspective for the ground (plus more pixels of information) than there is for the top of the tower.

I am wondering if there are any here that know techniques that could improve this. I’m quite new to Nuke and am sure these is a lot I’m unaware of. If a video sample would be helpful just ask.

Creating a vector image from a matte

I’m wanting to create some silhouette effects with some green screen footage, I’ve keyed out the GS using primatte and I was wondering if there is a way of setting a vector image to ‘snap’ around the matte in order to get a cleaner edge when I scale up?

Nuke Camera Projection Animate

So camera projecting in Nuke is not a problem on a still obj.

But I’m having a hard time figuring out how to camera project onto an animated obj.
I know it has something to do with using the axis node to mimic the animation of the obj to make the projection camera stick to it, but I’m having problems figuring that part out.
Anyone know what I’m talking about and how to fix this problem?
