manipulating an imported *.obj

Hi all

what I an doing is importing and *.obj (plane) and the tracked camera out of syntheyes.

the reason being is that I plan to use this as a hold out matte for a table top that has a huge amount of spill on it.

Now this whole concept works a treat….

BUT

it not a perfect fit in some places so what I want to be able to do is modify the plane corners to fudge it into place.. but as far as I can see there is nothing to do this, there is the trilinear node but this is a box mod and it also offsets my plane.

any suggestions or am I going to get an RTFM of this one.

cheers all

resizing source for 3d card

hi there Nuke magicians,
this is my first post here although I’m reading through this forum for a while.

When I’ve built a complex script with more then 50 cards (PSD layers as source through Project3D node) I’ve decided that I have to scale-up (extend left, riht, up & down) my source file ’cause I need a wider shot. Now when I reload PSD layers back, they seems to be moved out of it original place (actually scaled down to fit original bbox).

I suspect it’s something connected with pivots and formats and reminds me to what would happen in 3d app (texture would conform to 0,1 uv range).
When I had a similar scenario with AE 3D layers everything worked fine when reloaded back.

Basically, what I’d like to have is everything in place on cards as originally, only extended in all 4 directions same like in PSD file.

I tried to use crop and bbox node but it wouldn’t help me.

Is there a quick fix without re-doing the whole comp from begining?
Can someone explain me the concept of format in this case, please because I’m quiet new to Nuke?

Basic 3d comp

Hi,

I’m new to nuke and have been trying to put together a basic composite, however I’m stuck..

I have….

1/ Background footage.

2/ Some cg to go over that background.

3/ Then a foreground with a sequence of alpha channels to use as a mask for the foreground.

How do I go about getting the alpha channels to mask out the foreground?

I can do this in PS, AE, Combustion and Fusion.. however I’m struggling here.

any help is greatly appreciated…

many thanks,
Matt

want to build 3d set to use in multiple shots from different footage

Hello,

I’m learning the 3d aspect of Nuke.

I want to construct a set..basically a room to be built with geometry. I’ve never done this before.

I’m with Nuke, Maya and Boujou.

I’d like to do this with just Nuke and would like to know if it’s possible.

I have a 2d shot that pulled greenscreen keys from.
This shot is now a 2d layer that I will comp over a 3d background set.

I want to create this 3d room that the actor will be standing in.

I know the distance the actor was standing from the camera.
I know the height of the camera.
It was a locked shot, no camera movement.

So when I create the set out of geometry I want to be able to position the actor at a relative distance to the geometry knowing how far he was standing from the camera.

The whole room will not appear in the shot as the room will be in "reality" much bigger.

So I will want to use this room for other greenscreen shots taken from the real camera and show the room at different perspectives.

I’ve never done this before so I was wondering if this is possible from Nuke, or anything you want to say based on your own perspective.

Also if it’s better to do something like this in Nuke alone or better to build the set in Maya and then import that into Nuke?

Photoshop alpha doesn’t play nice with nuke?

Hello fellow Nukers!

I find myself in a project with a lot of images coming from photoshop and transparent images with layer styles (merged) get a white fringe. This is ofcourse because photoshop mattes against white instead of black.
Is there any way to get nuke to premult against white instead of black or for photoshop to save images matted against black instead of white?
My solution at this time is to pull each photoshop image through AE and export the frame as tiff with premult alpha. Is there a better solution?

Tia!
