Q : about Vray passes
Posted in: NUKE from The Foundryi try, Lighting + GI + SSS (screen) + spec + reflec, its seems correct, the output its exactly like the 3d render, but
when i try comping with raw files, its seems trouble
(diff filter* raw light) + ( diff filter* raw GI) + SSS (screen) + spec + reflec, the result is too bright, i notice that somehow the result skin color from Lighting pass is more darker than (diff filter* raw light), im trying to minus that raw files but seems didnt working either…hmmm.. did i miss something?
Been having a problem with Nuke slowing down during a session, as I use it, and as I preview. Consecutive refreshing gets painfully slow – and it’s back to being fast after a restart. Are my memory settings for Nuke wrong? Any idea what may cause this?
I can recreate this on both 6.3 and 6.2 64-bit, on different machines. But all are running OSX Snow Leopard. Appreciated if someone could chime in on this.
I am searching an efficient solution for creating decent looking smoky fires on tree trunks/twigs appeared in foreground and background for a war-zone type of shot. I pull a still frame from a FXPHD term intro video to better describe the effects I am after: Basically small smokes here and there, and smoky fire on tree trunks.
I’ve searched some possible solutions for that include (I put the concerns from my perspective):
1. GenArts Monsters GT
2. Tracode Particular for Nuke
3. particles in NukeX 6.3
4. Maya fluids: highest learning curve and probably take longer to render?
5. pull keys from stock footage: most fire stock footage with dark background has no smoke in it, whereas live-action smoky fire on wood can be difficult to pull a clean key?
Since I have no experience in any of above, I am wondering which approach would be the most efficient one with little learning curve that creates descent results of fire and smokes effects?
Please, any comment is very welcome!

accessing points on a cruve
Posted in: NUKE from The FoundryAnybody got any ideas how you can acces points on a curve in a colorLookup node with either TCL or python.
Say for example i have a curve with 5 points and i want to have to each point with expression links.
Random request, just curious.
cheers
The next nodes after the RotoPaint is a Pre-Mult and OFlow then Merge. Any ideas why?
i’m playing around with the PositionToPoints node. so far i’ve rendered a beauty pass and a position pass from maya and connected everything to the node. everything works fine when i’m in nuke’s 3d-view. but when i’m rendering my scene with a scanline renderer it seems that i can’t control the point size any longer. what am i missing?
thanks
ARRI FOOTAGE IMPORTING
Posted in: NUKE from The FoundryDunno if this topic has been actually treated before. I got some Alexa Arri prorres 444 footage, QT. format, and i´m wondering how to properly import this footage into nuke.
Would these settings work?
-ColorSpace on Reader: Alexav3logC
-Viewer´s LUT: Rec709
-Write´s ColorSpace: Rec709
I really doubt this setting is the proper one, but the facilitie i´ve just begun working for has told me to import the footage this way.
Any informed opinion or help?
Thanks in advance
Inner\Outer Glow (ok, Glow it straight forward )
