2d effects in stereoscopic

So just started working on my first stereo project, and am wondering if anyone has any workflow for creating 2d effects, such a volumetric lighting, lens flares in stero….or, if they even need to be.

At moment im thinking that i can create 2 instances of each, but with the point of origin slightly offset so the point of convergence will be at screen depth. I could then adjust convergence by offsetting the instance more or less.

Any one attempted this before and has lessons they learnt and are willing to share?

Crossing over

Hi everyone

I’m not sure if this has been discussed before, but here goes anyway

I’ve been a fusion user for quite some time now and lately I’ve been interested in Nuke.
Thing is, when I started to tinker around with it I’ve found it somewhat lacking.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen all the amazing stuff Nuke can do, but it seems to me that it’s not THERE yet.
Like the simple things. When I connect a merge node to it’s A and B inputs and then try to connect the mask input – it just overlaps with either the A or B inputs. Making it really hard to disconect it later.
This is just an example.
I’d like to know if there are other people who’ve made this transition from Fusion to Nuke and maybe have some pointers on smoothing out the journy.

Let me clear, I’ve got nothing but respect for Nuke. I just find it hard to overcome those simple so called "glitches" I’ve stumbled into.

Thanks in advance to whomever respondes.

QT render problem

Hi,

I have another problem with Nuke. I really HAVE TO render my outputs to QT. Problem is though I set the file to be 25 fps in my write node’s advanced settings FCP sees the files as 59.97 fps. What did I fail to set up?

And please do not tell me to switch to frames as this is not really an option.

3way color correction?

Hello,

I am a fresh convert from Fusion and I have a question.
I pretty much love the Fusion color correction tool and I managed
to replicate almost all functions using Nuke nodes. But I still miss the 3 way cc. I remeber someone saying me there is a gizmo or a script that gives this option to Nuke. Is that true?

P.S.: Another one. In Fusion you can nudge masks with the cursor keys. Is it possible in Nuke?

Is there any python script which syncs the folder? or copies the contents to…..

Is there any python script where I would like to sync the folders based on the modified time…

I mean the script first should check the modified contents of its folder and then sync the folder based on the time of which its files are changed.

I want to make this script to go over the renderfarm can u pls help me…

or

Once the rendering is complete I want the rendered files to be copied to some other location apart from the target render folder…
Is there any post render script in nuke which does this?

How to track a paint node?

Hi All,

I Have a matte that was created using the "Keyer" node. I wanted to "paint in" or "fill in" the matte using the paint node.
I really don’t want to paint frame by frame.

Is there a way to apply tracking data to the paint stokes?
There is no translation x, y on the paint layers, so I can’t figure out how to link the tracking data.

Also, I tried using a Constant node, painting on it, add a transform node (so I could apply track data) and then merge it after the keyer node. But it didn’t work, I got weird results.

Thanks,
Lou

getting started with nuke plugins

hi,

i dont have too much experience on c/c++ but ive done lots of scripting.
my problem is to find a good environment for nuke plugin dev.. mainly the compiling side of it.

i would like to start by looking at the examples on NDK and tweaking them.
first i would need to be able to compile =)

would it be possible to use ms visual2008 express for this?
how should i set up the project to get things started?
im on vista 32bit.

thank you!

Nuke render slows down after eating up all the ram.

Hi y’all,

I am using Nuke 5.2v1 64Bit on Windoze Vista 64 on 4 separate machines to render a variety of jobs over a network etc.

The common issue with all machines is that Nuke starts rendering fast, even on very large projects is that after 10-20 frames and it has filled up all the available RAM (4-6GB), then all 8 cores of the CPU sit around 2-4%.

Every time without fail on all machines and all projects.

If I restart the project half way through, again it starts off fast then slows down after it has filled the RAM up.

This is after reinstalls, new machines, and different network configs. It’s definitely a Nuke issue.

It seems there is some kind of buffer clearing problem.

If I could automatically purge the cache/buffer every x frames, it should blast through the renders easily. I cant find any option to do that.

Can you do this?

Anyone else with this issue?

I’ve searched this forum and cant find a single reference to this problem I have on all the machines I’ve ever used Nuke on… strange right? Maybe its just me.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
