Is it impossible?

Hey everyone,

Has anyone ever successfully used the Mental Ray "mv3D" pass plugged into Nuke’s "Vector Blur" node? I’m aware of a few of the workarounds but am curious about Maya’s built-in setup.

Maya Batch render Problem! Pls help!!!

Hello

I ran into a strange problem with Maya Batch rendering!
I am trying to render a beauty, depth and a motionvector pass of a fluid simulation.
The fluid simulation is converted into polygons.
I also made different render layers for the beauty, motionvector and depth pass.

Now heres the problem:

When i batch render a single frame of the 3 renderlayers everything works fine. I get my 3 passes and they look how i would expect them.

However, everytime i try to render a sequence, every frame of the motionvector pass and the depth pass looks exactly like the first frame of the batchrender process.

The beatypass however comes out like its supposed to be.

I already tried to cash out the fluid polygon geometry, but that doesn’t work eather, because the cashed geometry looks totally weird.

By the way:

The beauty pass is a volume render of the fluid.
I converted the fluid into polygons to render out my depth and motionvector pass.

Anybody got an idea how i can fix this Problem?

problem in importing cg elements into maya

MY name is chaitanya. I am a video editor by profession. I am extremely new to maya, now trying to learn tracking in boujou. I am having a problem in importing a cg element into maya. The cg element which i tried to import is opening in a separate window as given below. Please help me to find out the correct way.

Subdivision deletion?

Well anyway im trying to model the alien from space invaders.. So i just made a square with a certain amount of subdivisions. I deleted the ones unnecessary so it made the shape of the alien. but there are like no sides and the innard areas are just holes and see through.. how do i make it all thick again so there are no holes. Heres a pic of a side thats not thick..

As you can see, you can see inside of it, i dont want that.

Fluid motionvector pass

Hi everybody!

I am trying to get a motionvector pass from a fluid.
i’ve red that if i convert The fluid into polygons i can output a motion vector Pass for the Fluid.
My fluid (the polygonal version) is on a seperate layer. Applied to this layer is a 2D motionvector Pass.

I render out a 3×32 bit Normal Float openEXR.

But if i look at the openEXR i only get a image with a gentle gradient from left to right in the red channel of the motionvector Channel Layer.

However this method is working for the Depth Pass

What am i doing wrong here?

Can anybody help?

camera correction in Maya

Hello everyone.

can anybody tell me how to do camera correction in maya. i use max and in max a camera perspectivity (distortion) can be corrected. is it possible to do the same in maya? when the camera is looking upwards, the vertical edges of objects tend to meet at the third vanishing point upwards. can we make the edges straight by camera correction in maya? please advise. regards..Nikhil Shahapurkar.

optimising render for clouds in maya

Im about to start a heavy render of clouds in maya 2010, was wondering if anyone had any pointers or cautions before i get heavy into my render. Any problems with it? Whats a good setting to get high qulity and less render time?

CV Curve Tool – fill in outline (sufrace / paintbucket)

Well, I’m new to maya an I drew a shape (2d) with the cv curve tool… How can I fill in this shape so that it is a surface? kind of like how you would use the "paint bucket" tool in other software to fill in faces/surfaces.. thanks!
