Convert Maya Models to .3ds (Urgent Please Help!!!)

I need my final models in .3ds format and I have all my models in maya.

I tried exporting as obj/fbx and then importing it into 3dsmax and exporting as .3ds

But I ran into few issues.

1.All the smoothness is gone and when I try to smooth it do sent work properly.

2.In .3ds file some of the vertices are not weld together but they are perfectly fine in maya and in max.

Please help me convert my maya models in .3ds

Disable post/pre render mel

Hi guys!

Does anyone know how to disable post/pre render mel statements when single image is rendered via render view.

I need them to be executed only during the batch render.

Or are there any variables that can tell python/mel scripts that they are executed in context of batch render process or command line render process.

Thanks!

how to do this????????///

HELP Lattice locator to scale

Hi, I am wondering the best way to solve this problem. Hopefully someone has an idea. I have my SCENE animated, and everything works fine. It is composed by a cyclorama, objects and drops flying around. Everything is attached to a locator but when I scale down my scene to match the size I need it doesn´t respects the lattice deformation.

The drops are inside de locator and it moves perfectly but when I try to scale them down the drops won´t respond how it should be.

The drop was:
1. model
2. Attach model to motion path (curve)
3. Attach to a flow path

Masking in Maya 2011?

I need to "grow" a logo out of the palm of an opening hand. Logo is built and tracking done. I’m going to use a particle attached to the curve of the outside edge of the logo and as it travels from the bottom of the geometry to the top, I would like to have the logo itself appear as though it was formed from the very same electricity (particle trail). An example (albeit way overblown) would be the Tron lightcycle or the objects green lantern creates from what visually appears to be energy.

In AE or NUKE I could do this with a simple mask animation. I’d like to learn how to do this in Maya though. I can’t imagine there’s not a tool to achieve something like this? I have searched relentlessly but as you can imagine search terms for something like this continuously bring up "selection masks" which is not what I’m trying to do.

Thank you for any feedback!

very basic question !!

well i downloaded a maya project having a helicopter model
the model is divided into different meshes ….so meshes grouped like weapons group or engines group other meshes ungrouped
and i wanna move the whole copter so i gouped EVERYTHING in a big group but when i move this big group everything moves but in different proportions so every thing moves but separated !!

so what should i do to move the whole copter ?!!

thank in advance !!

So people can criticize, but they can’t help fix or suggest anything

I have quite a few feed backs from this demo and I was told that the school at the last half of the demo has some bad texturing, I could easily go back and fix it but I have two other projects that I am going to add to this so I thought It would be better to just cut a section or two out completely, but I don’t want to edit out the entire school just yet.:bomb:

I need some outside help and opinions
the scenes are labeled at the bottom right corner.
