Tracking question

Hi all,

I have a bit of a noob question concerning some footage I’m tracking in SynthEyes. The source footage is 1080p but I will be comping it at 1280 x 720. It seems to me that it would be best to track it at full-res to get the best detail but I was wondering if that would cause any issues once I exported to Maya. It’s maintaining the same aspect ratio to the best of my knowledge so I don’t think it should make a difference but I’m just getting started with all this so any thoughts or suggestions you guys have would be great! 🙂

Thanks!

what is the best way ?

orientation in maya is better or in matchmoving software ?

problem in maya & boujou

hi ,

i am getting a jitter in my maya scene , which i had brought from boujou .

plz help me to remove the jitter.

thanks.

exclude rotation along z axis in PF track

Can you exclude the rotation of a single axis when tracking geometry in PF track?

I’m running into a problem where it is tracking my geometry very well except it’s rotating it along the z axis toward the middle of the track and throwing off the remainder of the track.

thanks!

Anamorphic footage in Boujou

Hey all,

I’ve looked through the documentation and can’t seem to find anything about this. When I bring anamorphic footage into Boujou, it displays as squeezed in the viewer. Is there a way to correct for pixel aspect ratio in the viewer?

Green screen information help

I was wondering if someone could give/tell me where I can get information about green screen.
I made one myself but I couldn´t find the green I needed so I used a green from a pool table, I´ve got some nice amator results but for an academic work I think it´s enough.
What I need is some information in how to use it correctly to prepare it to insert 3D.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance

PFTrack Export Problem

So…I’m new to PFTrack, and this seems like it would be fairly easy to solve, but I can’t figure out why this is happening:

I have a project that is 230 frames long. I export my camera from pftrack as a .ma Maya Ascii scene.

Everything comes into Maya fine. The scale, the tracking locators, the image plane, but the camera’s baked animation stops….at frame 183. The image plane’s movie goes on to 230, so thats still fine.

Its like the camera is set to a MUCH faster frame rate, or something. I’ve tried stretching the animation out in maya, to terrible results. Please help!

Cordinate System Problame

Hi…
my problam is i am useing Boujou for camera match every thing fine match camera tracking object tracking perfact but my problame is Cordinate System that no proparly Align with objects.
i also try Syntheyes that work awsome but again same problam some time work parfactly but i dont know "HOW". check my image and help me. Thanks

180 nodal pan

Hi everyone, i’m working on a 180 nodal pan. It’s proving a lot more difficult than i thought. I understand the reasons *no parallax*… however, i could really use some advice. I’ve spent way too much time playing around with no *perfect* result.

I will upload the clip, (note~ this is highly compressed for purpose of fsize) please look at the shot starting at frame 348. This is the matchmove i’m referring to. In the past I had used matchmover pro for matchmoving but had not used it in such a long time and was suggested to use pftrack because it was newer and *some say* better. And so, I began watching all of the tutorials I could dig up on pftrack. Still, I’m not getting a good matchmove.

After taking a look at my footage, if you could please give me some "helpful" hints at what process I should be doing to get this to solve good.

Another somewhat sad thing is that I do not have any "camera" information from the shoot. BUT, I do have the NAME of the camera, and a website link to the camera info.

and then the second "hopefully" helpful part is that I have many notes on the location, distances and measurements that i took while i was there. I haven’t seen a good way to use this data however in PFtrack. In matchmover it seemed fairl easy to set up some track points and give them distances between them…

Alright so here is my start. I thank you ahead of time for the time and patience to read this. I’m looking forward to everyones input and advice.

Cheers,
Jonathan

PFTrack: Calculating Variable Focal Length

Hey Guys,

In my many attempts in PFTrack, the biggest problem that I can say occurs the most is getting an accurate focal length estimation for a zooming free motion shot. Now my process may be completely wrong from what is supposed to be done, which is why I wanted to ask the community if they have a working method they use which could benefit us all.

My process is as follows:

Step 1.) After getting my manual and autotracks setup and solid I use the estimate focal length box on the starting frame to get the FL to just about where it should be.

Step 2.) If the box does not (which is normally the case) give accurate results, I use Scene Orientation lines on 3-4 frames ranging throughout the shot. After lines are set and (camera>estimate focal length) and that value is stored I solve again.

Thats my process and most of the time does not get anywhere near what I need. For instance an aerial shot orbiting a building with a zoom. Start frame is a solid 25 mm FL and end frame is stored as around 105. After the solve however the start frame is set at 3.—- mm or even .0000143 This number varies from time to time depending on the orientation lines setup.

The other issue that occurs is: If I do get an accurate solve and FL estimation, on the frames where the lines were drawn there is a dramatic change in FL resulting in a pop.

I apologize for the length of this post, but im sure if im having these issues others will eventually as well and I might as well start it.

Thanks in advance guys! :niceone:
