Flare 2012 Price?
Thanks!!
I freed some space and returned to flame. When I do export a clip it says: CLIPMGT: Error when opening archive.
I created anew library, but everytime I try export, it will switch to EXPORT(IO – Read only).
How do I solve this so I can export from Flame again?
I hope that you are all well.
I have posted a new video to my blog – Autodesk Smoke: *Tracking an object going off screen
In this blog, I am picking up on a video request that has come up a few times. We will focus on helping you track objects as they travel off-screen with a great manual technique that you may or may not know.
The technique is very useful and you can tackle a variety of difficult tracks!

Autodesk Smoke: Conforming Timelines from Adobe Premiere Pro
Another workflow video due to popular demand. *A lot of people have been asking me how to conform Adobe Premiere Pro timelines in Smoke. *This entry will show how to move metadata between the applications and conform the timeline in Smoke using the same media. *

It is very simple and easy to export an AAF and conform it in Autodesk Smoke.

I hope that you are all looking forward to the weekend!!!
Back in April, my good friend Louis Marcoux did a fabulous presentation at NAB 2011 showcasing a full workflow with Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Smoke. This is an amazing in-depth look into the workflow… Great for beginners and advanced users!!!
Recently Louis made these in-depth videos which are a complete break down of his presentation. *So there are plenty of videos in this blog post for all skill levels. *In fact there are 22 parts!
This included working with render passes, 3D models and retexturing in Autodesk Smoke.
Now for all of you using other 3D applications including Autodesk Maya, don’t look away just yet because the workflow he shows can be easily used with your 3D application as well. *It is more about the interchange formats and render passes and how it all comes together in Autodesk Smoke.

But the face moves and also the camera. I tracked the axis of the bilinear image onto the face. Also I stabilized it. I created a mask to affect only a region of the video and this is also tracked to the face. I assigned a new axis over to the bilinear node to create an offset an positioned it where I would like this effect.
So when I try to animate the bilinear grid on my scaled image, the picture in the video moves (actress rotates head) and I would like the bilinear grid to follow it.
What´s a good approach for this?
Thanks.
I hope that you have all had a great week and I have posted a new video to my blog:
Autodesk Smoke: The Avid AAF Conforming Workflow
With Autodesk Smoke on the Mac, you can easily work with other Mac-based video editing applications like Avid Media Composer. *Conforming timelines from Avid Media Composer is an easy process that allows you to bring your timeline into Smoke and reconnect either to the original media or the Avid DNxHD media. *
*
This means that you dont have to redo all your work when you move from an off-line stage to an on-line finishing stage. *
*
I would also like to mention that because Smoke is also an editor, you can do both editing and finishing in Smoke.

I have posted a new video to my 4Kay Story Blog – Autodesk Smoke: *Timeline 101 Match & Replace
Creative finishing in Autodesk Smoke is typically achieved through an amalgamation of the editorial timeline and creative desktop tools. *
The match & replace workflow solidifies the connection between the timeline and the desktop helping you keep everything on track and in sync.
Its definitely worth knowing this workflow which will make using the desktop more fluid for your advanced visual effects creations.

I hope that you have all had a great week in post!
I have posted a new vlog to the 4Kay Story: Stereoscopic 3D Finishing with Autodesk Smoke – PART 3
This video is all about compositing in Stereoscopic 3D with Autodesk Smoke’s main 3D compositor, Action.
You will see the fundamentals of Stereoscopic 3D compositing in Smoke. *Hopefully this will stimulate your creative juices for what you can*pull off with Stereoscopic 3D and Smoke.
The great thing is if you already know how to use Action, you*dont have to re-learn every single compositing tool*in order to do Stereoscopic 3D compositing. *You simply use Stereoscopic tools such as stereo objects and a stereoscopic camera*rig and work in a familiar environment. *Actions real 3D*environment provides the*3D*space you need*to create 3D depth when viewed through the stereoscopic camera rig. *You have*a lot of control and creative potential when working on stereoscopic 3D projects in Action, with the ability to mix regular footage, lighting, lens flares & rays, cameras etc.

Don’t forget your anaglyph glasses!!!
Remember you can also see part 1 and part 2 if you missed them earlier!
Next week will be the final video in the Stereoscopic 3D training series. **
*
We will take a look at converting an*existing*normal*3D composite into a stereoscopic 3D composite in a few easy steps. *We will also cover that all important step of creating the deliverables and handing it off to your client. *
*
Dont miss part 4 coming to the blog soon!
*
I am interested in how many of you are currently involved or interested in Stereoscopic 3D production. *Please write a few brief words in the comments. *How do you find Stereoscopic 3D production and what challenges have you faced?
*
That’s it from me and I hope you all have a great weekend!
