MONCLER MODELS ARE TOTAL DOGS!!!!

So, Moncler was all like: “Bruce, do vat you vant. Take some pics and make some art.” And Bruce Weber took that as a manadate to dress up his golden retrievers in Moncler coats, fall asleep in a pile of cameras, and then pay a bunch of younguns to roll a humongous ball made of Moncler jackets up a hill. Sounds like what fashion photography used to be like in the golden years. Time to get back!MonclerBruceWeber02

Episode 5: DISCOFUNBATH

Alpha Vomero, a NY-based wardrobe stylist and fashion designer – not to mention really good friend of WMIG – takes photos of on-the-street fashion to display on her mega awesome blog DISCOFUNBATH. She spends her days shopping her butt off, drinking vanilla lattes and traveling through every New York City nook, giving her a unique view of fashion and trends that the average walk down the street might not yield. WMIG followed her around on a few of her typical days to create this little behind-the-scenes-style film. Kind of like a day in the life of a style blogger.

Episode 6: PLEET TV

WMIG and Samantha Pleet have been toiling long and hard to finish up the new lookbook for the Samantha Pleet Holiday Collection and it is finally here! Pleet TV, in all it’s disheveled glory, is our take on a clothing line’s video lookbook. Part TV Party, part Wayne’s World, and part Muppet Show; we smashed all of these glorious things together to create a rough cut fly by the seat of your pants tv show style lookbook that presents Samantha’s new holiday collection in a hilariously unscripted public access cable kind of setting. We built the set in an abandoned warehouse, set up one 16mm camera and 2 HD video cameras then unleashed the Pleet family to drink champagne, dance, sing, tap dance, and make us laugh all while wearing the charming wares of Samantha Pleet. With cameos from a host of familiar faces like the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Carlen Altman, and Au Revoir Simone it’s quite a unique snapshot of Samantha Pleet and all her amazing friends. Viva la PLEET TV!!!!

Marc Jacobs Flushes Out the Goth Ninjas.

2

Marc Jacobs Mens Ready-to-wear Spring ‘10 collection has dropped! Hopefully this signals the emergence of “Patrick Bateman guest-starring in an episode of Miami Vice-esque fashion” and flushes out all that goth ninja nonsense that’s been dominating men’s fashion for the past 2 years.

We are screening the new lookbook that we created for Samantha Pleet’s Holiday Collection tonight at an undisclosed location. Directly after, 8:30pm to be precise, we will have an intimate little afterparty at The Rusty Knot to celebrate all the people who worked so hard to make this all happen. Come join us if you are into things that are fun and if not, check back here tomorrow to see the film!_DSC2765

KIMMEL’S SCREENTESTS.

adamkimmel-747785

Adam Kimmel’s lookbook for Fall / Winter 2009 puts Factory alum Gerard Malanga behind the lens to recreate Warhol’s famously awkward screentests from so many decades ago. Stacked from top to bottom with familiar and talented faces, all methods of artistic expression get screentime as Kunle Martins, Matthew Barney, Francesco Clemente, and Glenn O’Brien – to name a few – sit on the hot seat in heavily shadowed awkwardness. Oh yeah, and the clothes are pretty awesome too. Check em out HERE.

KL Makes Downtempo Tapas Video.

picture-1

We strive daily at WMIG to take our Karl Lagerfeld obsession to great new heights. At times this even involves pointing a gun at an unpaid intern to make sure Karl gets googled all day and night. So when this accessory video slipped through our fingertips and onto a million other blogs before it came to our attention we felt like failures. To us, KL is the only bro who can string together jewelry, models, and headpieces into a dialogue-less music video for some downtempo tapas lounge singer and have us be like: “You’re sick, Karl! You’re sick!”

Miles Davis on 60 Minutes.

picture-2

Before Miles Davis left this mortal coil he was kind enough to give an interview to 60 Minutes’ Harry Reasoner. The rasp, the venom, the sly hilarity; none of them fading with age as he politely sat like a gnarled piece of bark across from the pasty establishment of 60 minutes. To his credit, Harry manages to take it well.

Anna Wintour on 60 Minutes

Longtime Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, sat under the 60 Minutes microscope recently and actually took off the sunglasses she uses to hide the steely reptilian gaze the whole world is afraid of. Check it out HERE.

Valentino: The Last Emperor

valentino_cropped

I guess I sorta slept on this past festival season so I might be behind on this one– but it looks like a must see.

Valentino: The Last Emperor is a feature-length film on the legendary designer Valentino Garavani in the wake of his exit in 2008 from the company he founded in Rome more than 45 years ago. Produced and directed by Matt Tyrnauer, Special Correspondent for Vanity Fair magazine, the film is an intimate, engaging and very funny fly-on-the-wall exploration of the singular world of one of Italy’s richest and most famous men. The film documents the colorful and dramatic closing act of Valentino’s celebrated career, tells the story of his extraordinary life and work, and also explores the larger themes affecting the fashion business today. But at the heart of the film is the unique relationship between Valentino and his business partner and companion of 50 years, Giancarlo Giammetti.”
