project: underground explosion in the city (problem with particles)

Hi, after dozens of tests with rayfire and particle flow, i ended up here.

How would you approach an animation of destroyed/cracked streets with random large/small chunks going up and to the sides?

Objects scale

Alright so im in the concept phase of a 3D castle im going to make. I have a question though. Ive heard that its good to use real life scale and measurements when working with architecture. Would this be a fact? The castle im going to build is going to be huge. Should I just work with generic units?

Stop motion bailed out computer animation?

Hey Pal,

Now animation studio Laika, the group who did last year’s eye-popping Coraline, has announced that they’re bailing out of computer-animated features altogether. From this we can say that now it’s time for stop motion not the older computer animation with pencil and clay. What u say?

Script to translate moving cam into moving scène?

I have a moving camera around an object obtained by tracking. I am looking for a way to translate this motion data onto the object so that the camera is static. Any ideas?

This DVD brings you 17 tutorial videos covering all aspects of the interior process. Starting with importing a cad file, we model the apartment from it. From there, we extrude walls, build custom doors with hinges that actually open and close, custom windows that open and close, trim work, temporary cabinetry, intricate details like outlets, light switches and thermostats and more! This DVD will get you up and running and ready for DVD 2 where we will then go into each room and model the furniture!

Needed sound fx and voiceover Animation programs?

Firstly I do not want a complicated or high end professional stop motion program. I also do not want to spend more than say $80 dollars. I want it to have sound capability such as sound fx and voiceover. I do not want to have to export to another program to add sounds. It is for windows use by the way not mac.I will be using it with a Logitech Pro 9000 webcam.

All your suggestion helps me to take decision !!

Head model not matching footage with trackers.

Hello everyone, i hope this is the right place to post this but i am having extreme problems as a newbie with an experimental trial-project that i am doing.

for people who know me, i am one who has started this thread:

http://www.vfxtalk.com/forum/possibl…ng-t17800.html

im not going to go into details jsut yet of that thread, but my problem is that, i have live-action footage of a person’s head which i have tracked well in PFTrack and followed exported that data into 3dsmax, from tere i took a crudely made head model and attached it with the trackers, i was told to go to the very first frame and match the head model to the one’s in the footage, and as i am very stuck on this, i can never get the head model to match properly its head movement and rotations and it always drifts off unaccordantly from the reference footage, see the outcome so far:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JHN0J8W6

I have asked advice from a couple of people, which is to (as from the previous footage i have uploaded with converning results to them) is to take and bring/move the 3d head model closer or in shot, which i have done and the outcome was that the head model was more evident in movement and rotations, but i STILL canot get it to match, nor is it syncronising with the live-action footage’s counterpart, and it is incresingly frustrating me on wanting to do such a simple thing.

i would really appreciate it if sopmeone can help me on this, as i am really wanting to get this over and done with after months on this seemingly easy task (so i can progress on more advanced thins relating to this) that a newbie with 3d interest and small understanding should know how to do so.

looking forward hearing back from you wonderful people 🙂

Making Columns React to a Plane (with Soft Selection)

Hi everyone,

I have a series of columns, with a plane (editable poly) over the top of them.

I want to manipulate the plane in the z-axis using the soft-selection tool and make the columns react to the movement the plane makes.

Here are some images about what i mean:

The columns and the plane over the top.

The plane is moved up using soft-selection.

The aim is to get the columns to stretch up with the plane.

Does anyone have any hints as to what the best method is?

Thanks

Ben
